Arthur Weasley, a man that many would describe as quite odd. A man that the Dursleys would be petrified to be linked to, and a man that has been scorned in "respectable" pureblood society. An outcast by every sense of the word but one. The only place he wasn't an outcast was his own family, his big and beautiful family.
When he and Molly got married he never thought that there could be anything that would bring more light to his life, but little did he know there would be, seven things in fact. Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron and last but definitely not least, Ginny. They may have been known for their red hair, freckles and hand me down robes but Arthur couldn't have been happier with his family. And then one day it expanded once again.
A little black haired bespeckled boy with shocking green eyes and a scar that made him famous. But all Arthur saw when he looked upon the boy that was supposed to be the savior of the wizarding world was a little boy lacking love and support. Arthur decided that he already had seven, what was one more, and that's how he unofficially adopted Harry Potter, the boy who lived.
His first son was taken with a woman that his wife was less than taken with, he encouraged him to follow his heart. He saw one son get bloodied, bruised and burned in a career he loved, but come out stronger because of it. He let another son go and try to find himself by distancing himself from a family that Arthur was ashamed to admit didn't completely accept him for who he was. He let two of his other sons go and create their dreams, no matter their mother's protests. He let one son go and take on the world with his adopted son and a girl he adored. And he let his daughter prove herself even against his better judgement. He saw each of his children distance themselves from him but come back stronger and a better person because of it.
Even while his children were finding themselves Arthur kept adding onto his family. With a werewolf that many people regarded as dangerous, a metamorphogis that was scorned by society for being too abnormal, an innocent convict who spent his last days hiding, and many more who just needed a place to belong, a place that Arthur was happy to provide. Arthur Weasley was a family man through and through, adding on to his family with all the people that had had trouble finding a place in the world as he went. Loving and spreading that love was the essence of Arthur Weasley, an essence that some forgot about.
So many people tended to look over Arthur his entire life, but he created a family for himself, all of them as good as blood. Some with a shock of ginger hair, some with jet black, others with brown, blonde and even pink or blue. They were all Weasleys even if some would never carry the name. They were Arthur's family and no one could say otherwise.
I know it's pretty short, and it's less of a short story but it's my take on Arthur Weasley and what I think of when I think of Arthur.
