29??? I'm 14!

Oliver walked into the cortex in a nice button up. "Bear?" He said a faint smile on his face that quickly dropped when he saw Barry in the corner shaking with his knees to his chest. "Thank god," Caitlin said. "What's wrong with him?" he asked. "We're not sure he won't say a word hopefully you can get him to talk" Oliver walked over and put his hand on Barry's knee but he whimpered moving away quickly. Oliver held his hands up, "I'm not going to hurt you bear it's me Ollie" Oliver said softly. Barry raised his head and signed 'I don't know you' a scared look on his face. "What do you mean we're engaged," Oliver said. 'I'm only 14, who are you?" He signed. "Your 29, we've been engaged for a year our wedding is in six months," Oliver said. Barry just gave him a scared and confused look. "You sign?" Cisco said. Oliver looked at him, "Barry taught me, he uses it around the house," Oliver said. "Why?" Caitlin asked. "When he was younger he was mute. From 11 to 16." Oliver said. "So when he can he prefers to sign," Oliver said. "So why is he not speaking at all?" Cisco asked. "He thinks he's 14 again," Oliver said. "That must be the meta's power," Caitlin said. "How do we fix it?" Oliver asked. "We can make an antidote we have the meta but it may take a while," she said. "Okay, I'll take him home." He said. They nodded but Barry looked scared. "Let's get you home yeah?" Oliver said and Barry looked scared of him. "Do you want me to call Joe and he can talk to you?" Oliver asked and Barry shook his head no. "okay what about iris?" He asked. Barry nodded. Oliver pulled his phone out and called Iris putting it on speaker. "Hey," She said. "Hey Iris your on speaker I'm here with Barry," Oliver said. "Oh okay Hi Bear!" She said. Barry looked at Oliver and signed 'translate?' He nodded and Barry just signed 'hi'. "He says hi," Oliver said. "Is there something wrong can he not talk?" Iris asked. "Something happened with a meta and he thinks he's 14 again," Oliver said. "Oh no," she said. "He doesn't recognize us can you come to star labs he's scared," Oliver said. "Yeah, of course, I'm on my way Bear," She said. Barry nodded and Oliver ended the call.

    They all sat in silence while Caitlin and Cisco working on a cure. Iris got there and rushed in, "bear?" She said softly looking at him. He looked at her confused. "It's me Bear," She said. "Iris?" He signed. She nodded remembering basic sign language from when she was a kid. "Yeah, it's me Bear" He gut up hugging her tightly. Iros wrapped her arms around him. "It's okay," she said. He pulled away and signed quickly "I don't know these people... is what they're saying true I'm scared" He signed. "I don't know what you're saying Bear," She said. "Oliver?" She said he walked over standing next to them and nodding for Barry to sign it again. He hesitated. "It's okay he's just gonna translate for you," She said. He signed it again and Oliver voiced it out loud. "You do know these people Bear you just don't remember. That's Caitlin and Cisco you guys work together and this is your fiancee Oliver. Their telling you the truth" She said. He hesitantly nodded. "Listen Bear I just left work and I have to get back so your gonna go with Oliver okay? He'll take good care of you" she said. 'I wanna stay with you' He signed and Oliver voiced it. "You can't I'm sorry Bear but you can trust him," She said. He sighed and nodded. She kissed his head, "I'll come over as soon as I get off work" She said. He nodded and she left. Oliver handed Barry his coat. "Come one let go," he said. Barry nodded keeping his eyes down. Oliver signed and lead Barry outside to his car.

Barry was silent the whole ride home and didn't sign at all either but Oliver didn't push it. He could see the fear and confusion in Barry's expression. Once they got there Oliver led Barry inside and up to their apartment. Barry looked around his interest was mainly on the pictures on the walls. Barry loved having pictures of himself with his friends and family. There were a lot of pictures with Oliver in them as well. "That was the day I proposed," Oliver said. Barry turned to face Oliver, 'How long ago was that?' He signed. "About 11 months ago," Oliver said. Barry nodded, 'I'm 29?" He asked. Oliver nodded. "Yep you turned 29 last month," He said pointing to a picture from Barry's birthday. Barry looked up and pointed to someone then looked back to Oliver with a confused look on his face. Oliver walked over and looked at who Barry was pointing to. "That's your friend who you work with, Ralph," Oliver said. "I didn't see him at that place" Barry signed. "Yeah he had an accident and he passed about two weeks ago," Oliver said sadly. Barry looked down sadly, "oh" He signed. After a moment of silence, he pointed to someone else. "That's Caitlin you saw her today," Oliver said. Barry pointed to someone else, "Cisco you met him as well." Oliver said Barry, nodded. He pointed to another person, "That's my sister Thea," he said. Barry nodded looking around at the other pictures he saw one of his and Oliver with a button on the frame. He reached up and pushed it before Oliver could say anything and it revealed a picture of Oliver and Barry in their suits. "Was this on Halloween?" Barry asked. Oliver hesitated but nodded, "yep," He said. Barry nodded. "That bow looks very real," Barry said. Oliver nodded, "yeah I used a real bow from a friend," Oliver said. Barry nodded and walked around looking at other photos while Oliver switched the picture back to them without suits.
    After Barry got finished looking at the photos he turned to Oliver and sighed, 'What happened to me?'. "We're not sure but our friends at Star Labs, Caitlin and Cisco are gonna figure it out and help you okay?" Oliver said, Barry, nodded. "Until then me and you are gonna hang here, Iris will come by later and see you too," Oliver said. Barry nodded rubbing his arms slightly. "Cold?" He asked and Barry nodded. Oliver gestured Barry to follow him. Oliver went back into their bedroom and opened their closet, "Left side is supposed to be yours but I doubt it's organized because you wear my clothes half the time anyway so pick whatever you want." Oliver said. Barry looked through the clothes, 'do I wear stuff like this?' Barry asked. Oliver nodded, "yeah I know it's a little different from what you wore when you were 14," Oliver said. Barry nodded. "There are some darker hoodies in the back of my side," Oliver said. Barry got one of Oliver's plain black hoodies and pulled it on. Oliver smiled Barry often wore Oliver's clothes but he always found it cute. "If you want I think you may have one pair of black skinny jeans if it makes you more comfortable," Oliver said. Barry nodded and Oliver opened a drawer pulling out a pair of black pants. "Bathrooms there," He said. Barry nodded and went into the bathroom. When he came back out he was in all black and he messed with his hair a bit so it was over his eyes. Oliver opened another drawer and pulled out a gray beanie and tossed it to Barry who happily put it on. "You look emo. Feel better?" He asked. Barry smiled faintly and nodded. "So what would you like to do? Are you hungry?" He asked. Barry shrugged, "A little," He signed "I can order some pizza?" Oliver said. 'That's fine' he signed. Oliver nodded and quickly ordered some pizza. "Okay wanna go watch some tv or something while we wait?" He asked. Barry shrugged and nodded. "We can do whatever you wanna do," He said. "I wanna go home" Barry signed. Oliver sighed softly, "I don't think anyone's home but I can take you by if you want," Oliver said. Barry nodded, "okay let's wait on the pizza and then I'll take you okay?" He said and Barry nodded.
    After the two of them ate barry asked again if he could go home. Oliver sighed and drove him to Joe's house. The two walked and the house was empty. Barry went to go upstairs, "hey bear?" He said. Barry looked at him. "Do you wanna stay here tonight?" He asked and Barry nodded. "Okay, I'll be here if you need anything." He said and Barry nodded and went upstairs assumingly to his room. Oliver texted Joe and Iris and told them they were here and made himself comfortable attempting to watch TV but he was more worried about Barry. Iris was the first to arrive as she was able to get off work early.

    "He's upstairs," Oliver said. "Yeah he spent a lot of time in his room as a teen," She said. Oliver nodded, "he wants to stay here for the night," Oliver said. Iris nodded, "yeah that makes sense I'll keep an eye on him but you can stay if you want." Iris said. Oliver shook his head, "he seems really uncomfortable around me," Oliver said. "He doesn't know you," She said. Oliver nodded, "I just don't like seeing him so scared and confused. Is there any process on the cure?" he asked. She nodded, "they found how to make it but it won't be ready till tomorrow morning." She said. Oliver nodded, "can you take him to star labs?" he asked. "No my boss is already on me for leaving and then leaving early today," She said. Oliver nodded, "what time do you go in?" He asked. "I leave here at 7," She said. "Okay I'll be here to keep an eye on him till he wakes up," He said. Iris nodded, "Hey Bear?" She called up the stairs. A minutes later he quietly came down standing on the bottom stair looking at them. "I'm gonna stay with you the rest of the night but I have to work tomorrow so Oliver's gonna take you to star labs, the place we were yesterday and they're gonna help you remember, okay?" She said. 'But you don't sign anymore' Barry signed. "Would you like me to stay?" Oliver asked. 'Can Joe still sign?' He asked. "Iris, can Joe still sign?" Oliver asked. Iris shrugged, "he was never very good I doubt it," She said. Oliver looked at Barry who shyly signed, 'can you?' Oliver nodded, "of course," he said. Iris looked at Oliver confused. "He wants me to stay," Oliver said. She nodded, "that's fine are you gonna be okay if I just go home then?" She asked. 'Home?' Barry sighed and Oliver voiced for him. "Yeah I moved out a couple of years ago but I can still stay if you want," She said. Barry looked between Oliver and Iris. "will Joe be home?" He signed. "Yeah later on," Oliver said. Barry nodded, "can you wait till Joe gets home?' Barry signed and Oliver once again voice. "Yeah sure," She said. Barry nodded, 'that's fine' he signed. "Want to come down here and we can work on some of your talking like we used to?" She asked. He shrugged, "or I can come up there," She said. He nodded, "can he come?" She asked. Barry looked at Oliver and shrugged. "It's fine to go," He said. "I can't sign hardly at all," She said looking back at Barry. 'Fine' he sighed. 'He can come'. Oliver sighed and they all went back upstairs to Barry's bedroom. Barry said by his headboard crisscross and Iris sat in front of him and Oliver next to her. "Okay, where do you remember leaving off?" She asked. 'Names' he signed with Oliver voicing. "Okay, can you say that?" She asked. He shrugged. "Come on give it a try," She said. He looked at Oliver. "You won't remember this but you have me help you all the time with some words and names you struggled with," Oliver said. Barry nodded biting his lip gently scratching at his arms. Oliver reached next to him and handed him a pillow he hesitated but gladly took it clinging onto it and scratching at it instead of his arm. "I'm too anxious' he signed burying his face in the pillow shaking slightly. "Hey it's okay," Oliver said softly he wanted to hug Barry but he knew better. He was clenching his fists tightly. "Here take my hand," He said softly. Barry shook his head, "come on bear I don't bite you can hold it as tightly as you want," He said softly. Barry hesitated but held Oliver's hand death gripping it. Oliver didn't mind he just rubbed the back of Barry's hand with his thumb. Barry slowly started to calm down but his grip on Oliver never loosened. "Why don't we just relax and watch a movie?" Iris offered. Barry nodded raising his head off the pillow slightly. She got up and turned on his TV putting in a movie. Barry didn't let go of Oliver's hand and was still trembling a bit. Oliver gently held Barry's hand with both of his. Oliver shited so he was next to Barry who to everyone's surprise scooted closer and laid his head on Oliver's shoulder. Oliver took one arm and wrapped his around Barry's small frame and held Barry's hand with the other. Barry calmed down a bit more but stayed leaned against the archer. The movie played and Barry watched it while Oliver was in his head and Iris was on her phone. At some point during the movie, Barry fell asleep. Iris carefully got up and shut the TV off. Oliver carefully moved so Barry was laying down but he still had a grip on Oliver's hand and shirt. Iris nodded that it was okay for him to stay with Barry. "I'll leave once Joe gets home," she said. He nodded and she left quietly closing the door. Oliver carefully covered Barry and laid next to him. Barry woke up slightly and laid his head on Oliver's chest going back to sleep. Oliver smiled fondly and drifted to sleep as well.
