As well as stitching my wounds back up, Dr Black also offered to remove the tracking device from beneath the skin of my ankle, I all to gladly agreed to it. I hadn't even known it was there, but it made sense, considering how easy it was for Sir to find me.
After those things had been taken care of, I sat wearily beside Ethan on a chair, staring at the three doctors sitting across from the two of us; Dr Black, Dr Elliot and Dr Jones.
As promised before entering the room, for Ethan's sake, since I didn't trust a word that came out of their mouths, I made them not bring any of their weapons or torture devices inside with them. None of them seemed okay with that, they all gawked at us as if we'd attack them at any second.
However, as much as I'd like for that to happen, I fixed myself to sit there quietly and listen to whatever it was they had to say to us. And to my shock, I was actually staring to believe them.
"A federal investigation is taking place here today, in a couple of hours." Dr Jones said, "Apparently, the boys brother here followed General Benson after he had taken you too, he came back to the house a couple of seconds after he saw him come here with you two."
I hated Dr Jones the most out of the three doctors here. She was never nice to me, a complete bitch. I glared at her as she spoke, causing her to look anywhere but me.
"My brother?" Ethan sounded like he was going to laugh, a small grin on his face.
"Yes, we didn't know that you were here, Ethan." Dr Black's face twisted in dismay. "One of our colleges told us today. It seems like the General has gone bonkers!"
"Dr Black is right." Dr Jones spoke. "I might have turned my head at everything else General Benson has done," She paused, looking at me before she looked at me. "But kidnapping, its absolutely intolerable."
I resisted the urge to say how keeping me prisoner all my life was worse than kidnapping, but the look on Ethan's face kept me quiet. I felt myself smile at the hope gleaming in his eyes.
Dr Black smiled proudly, pulling out an empty syringe from his lab coat pocket. I stiffened, but Dr Black was chuckling, oblivious to my discomfort of it. "I gave the General a taste of his own medicine."
This caught my attention. "Where is he? Take me to him."
"Sure." Dr Black stood up, "Right this way." When I stood up to follow him, tugging on Ethan's hand, Dr Black paused and looked me. "You're not going to kill—"
"I'm not going to kill him!" I rolled my eyes. "Even if he does deserve it."
Dr Black nodded, looking relieved. Ethan and I followed behind the doctors, they stopped outside my cell door. Doctor Elliot punched in the code, a light came on inside the room from the small window. He gestured for me to look inside.
Warily approaching the door, Ethan tight to my side, the doctors backed away slightly before I looked through the window. I couldn't believe my eyes. There on the floor, unconscious and handcuffed, was Sir. I couldn't believe it. I was finally getting out of here.
"You should go now." Dr Jones said. "We need time to erase your files and clear all of our research on you. As far was the feds are concerned, you never existed. And I bet you General Benson will say so, too." She turned to Ethan. "Do what's best for you. Go stumbling out into the woods and let the police find you. Say you were taken and managed to get away, but don't say it was here."
"Why are you helping me?" I asked in disbelief.
"It doesn't matter. Just get out of here, fast. Start a new life. I don't care. And if you don't want anyone coming after you, don't say anything about General Benson, the lab or your abnormalities." She said quickly.
"But why? Why do this for me?"
"Look, you were never important to me, Blue. You were simply just a job. The only person who actually cared for you was Benson." She sighed.
"Because he is my father?"
I didn't want to believe it, but I wanted to see if she'd say it.
"Maybe." She didn't even blink. "But, this whole project was his obsession."
So he is my father...
Ethan looked over at me. "Come on, let's get out of here."
