Damira Johnson had been a good girl all her life. She graduated top of her class and was now ready for college. Her only problem was, she was broke. Broker than broke. And tuition wasn't cheap.

Adonis Reed.
Adonis stood at his sister Nuni's door waiting on her to open it up. He'd taken a long expensive ass Uber over her house on the boujie side of town and all he wanted to do now was be away from all that bullshit with his friends. He didn't even recognize Iris a few hours ago. And Bella? Not even close. He kinda wished he'd gone back to Mira's place and got some of the wings she was making. She was the only one who hadn't pissed him off today.
Armani Reed swung the door open revealing her baby brother Adonis. She hadn't seen Adonis since their little sisters funeral and she was surely surprised to see him now. She loved her brother to death though, there wasn't any bad blood between them. She just wished he'd come around more often.
"Donny? Wassup, what you doing here?" She asked rubbing the sleep out her eyes.
"I just feel like I need to talk to somebody Noon." He rubbed the back of his head and walked in behind his sister. Nuni gestured towards the kitchen so she could get them some coffee to drink. She damn sure needed it this late at night.
"So, tell me what's goin' on."
A few hours later Don and Nuni had swapped out coffee for Hennessy and were drunk off their asses. He'd vented about everything that'd been going on in his life. He told her about school and the business degree he was pursuing, about his friends, Draya and Damira. And after all that she knew he definitely would need something more than coffee.
"Damn lil' brotha'. Why didn't you come to me sooner?"
"It just been hard seeing you since Lexi, ya' know? Y'all was damn near twins Noon." Adonis buried his head in his hands. Alexis Reed was their younger sister. There was four of them total but Lexi was the baby. She was only seventeen years old when it happened. And ever since then, their family had split apart. Don had gone to college, Nuni married a basketball player, and nobody knew where the hell Alan went. None of them kept well in touch with their parents though but Don.
Nuni looked at her baby brother seeing the hurt he was feeling. After all, she'd felt that same hurt and didn't have either of her siblings to lean on. "It gets better bro. I promise you it does. If it weren't for Junie and Iman I don't think I'd even be here today."
"Speaking of, where my niece at man? I haven't seen her since the hospital."
"Sleep nigga it's damn near five in the morning."
He laughed a little realizing what time it was. He didn't mean to stay out for so long, especially considering he had class later on. Right now though, he didn't even think he wanted to go anymore. He just wasn't feeling it.
"Well look, call me when she wake up Ight? I ain't seen my baby since she was a baby baby." He stood up having to catch himself on the counter being that he was completely wasted.
"Um, did you drive here?"
"No ma'am. Ima walk home though sis."
Nuni watched her brother damn near crip walk towards the front door and shook her head. She was drunk too but she wasn't near as drunk as he was.
"Give me your phone stupid." She rolled her eyes snatching his phone from his hand. She went to the last contact he'd called and clicked on it waiting for somebody to pick up.
Damira Johnson.
Mira placed the last of the food in the refrigerator and slammed the door shut. All that damn chicken she'd cooked and they didn't even come back. Ungrateful. She was never cooking for them again.
She went into the living room and grabbed her phone hearing it ring. The person calling put a smile on her face. She definitely didn't expect a phone call.
"Well hello there stranger." The deep voice spoke through the speaker.
"Stranger?"
"You texted me one time and didn't respond after that. You don't like me or some?"
"You called me at five in the mornin' to ask me if I like you?" As cute as Mira thought he was, nobody's that cute. This was a little suspect to her, but thanks to Don everything was suspect.
"Want me to call you later?"
"Sure. Talk to you whenever Dee." She hung up the phone and looked at it for a second before blocking his contact. You could never be too cautious. Especially with men like that.
The kitchen was wiped spotless and the living room was clean as well. And even though it was almost morning, she still wasn't tired.
"The fuck do I have so much energy for?"
She sat on the couch flicking on the TV hoping something good could possibly be on at this time. She knew it wasn't but it never hurt to try. After switching channels for five minutes straight she settled on watching one of those cliche lifetime movies about the pregnant teens. They always turned out to be good as hell when you watched long enough.
"This bitch really lost her virginity without a condom and thought she was safe? The fucking idiocy." She laughed leaning back on the couch just before there was a loud knock on her door.
She groaned loudly because she'd just gotten comfortable. Who could be knocking on the door at this time anyways? That's dangerous as hell.
"Who is it?"
"Draya." Her eyes almost rolled to the back of her head at the name. She'd met the bitch one time and didn't like her then. What did she want now?
She swung the door open to see Draya barely holding up a drunk Adonis. Her eyes softened and she immediately went to support his other side helping them to the couch.
"What happened to him?"
"I don't know. Some bitch called me from his phone asking me to come get him all the way out in bougie ass Rosewood!" She fixed her outfit and stood up straight getting ready to walk out the door. "Look, I ain't no babysitter. Tell him to call me when he sober up."
Mira rolled her eyes and slammed the door shut locking it after her. She went into the closet and pulled out a blanket covering Don up. She'd talk to him tomorrow because carrying his big ass tired her out enough to fall asleep.
