I feel a surge of power.
"Oh my gosh Gwen!" Jason exclaims."You have magic!"
"I have magic?"I say first confused, then knowingly." I HAVE MAGIC!!!"
The man, fazed, and in a stupor, stares at me, when, the chains indeed do fade away.
"Th-they were magic proof..." The man stutters.
I know at that point that he has now seen too much. Without hesitation, I blast him, causing him to become knocked out.
"We're going to finish this once and for all!" I shout at Jason.
We head down the corridor, where a bunch of other cells are. I can see other experiments gone wrong, like us, in them, pleading us to free them. Feeling bad, I stop in front of a cell where a young girl with golden hair sits. She only looks about 12 years old, and has wings with mostly pure white feathers with the occasional pure golden highlight. I think about a spell to unlock the cage when Jason stops me, sensing what I'm about to do.
"No, don't unlock the cage," he says sternly."It could be dangerous."
Continuing to think about a spell, I say, "It's dangerous to leave her here. Besides, she's like us, and may have good info on how to escape from here."
Jason only rolls his eyes. "Only you, Gwen, would use logic like that. You see, in the real world, there is no logic. Everything is based on random guesses."
Of course, he's only joking. Even I remember joking around like that was the only way for him to even attempt a good come back when he has nothing. He, however, is sort of right. A lot of things were just guesses, with no logic whatsoever to explain it.
I figure out what I am supposed to do to unlock the lock, cast a spell, and open the door. The girl creeps near the door. She was basically the only person who wasn't in a rush to get out.
"You can come, if you want," I say softly.
The girl comes out a little further. "Why should I trust you?" She says questioningly.
I open my wings slowly. "Because I'm just like you. They hurt me, and now I'm going to make sure they don't hurt you anymore."
The girl still has a questioning look on her face. "But, no one breaks out of here. Not even kids with magic."
"Well, have you heard the legend of the brother and sister?" Jason pipes up.
The girl's eyes get big. "The one about the brother and sister who somehow manage to break out of this place? That's only a legend right? One that the use to scare us into never even trying to escape? The one in which they say is why they're so strict, and that if we even th-"
"It's true. It's all true. We are just those kids," I interrupt.
The girl suddenly tears up. "You would do this for me? I mean, you have a wide selection, but you choose me?"
"Yes, you're just like us, and I think you can help us," I say.
"Well, help you is what I will do," the girl replies firmly."I hate this place, and the people who work here. My name is Melody."
"You know," Melody says,"You shouldn't fight in that condition."
"True. Let's go back to my place, and my mother can fix us up," I agree.
With a look of remembering, Jason says,"Remember, they're not there. They went through the portal."
Instantly, I grow worried. "Oh, my, gosh, I forgot about that! Jason, make us a portal to that place!"
"Well, it's not that easy, but whatever. Sure."
Jason focuses his energy into making the portal. It gradually comes, becoming bigger, and bigger, until it is a full sized portal.
"OK, it's ready," Jason states.
Jason, this time, stays out of the portal, and motions Melody and I to go. Melody with eyes of amazement, jumps into the portal. I jump into the portal next, and Jason follows. We end up at a beach.
"Perfect," Jason says." Now let's for find Rose and Adeline!"
