Gajeel P.O.V.

How is that pipsqueak doing? Last time I saw her, she was passed out sleeping in a hospital bed. That fight must have really banged her up. And speaking of that fight, I still need to settle things.

I walked into campus from the hospital soaking wet. Trudging to my dorm, I shook out the water like a dog and stepped into the room to change. I saw Natsu at the hallways, furiously punching buttons into his cellphone and calling someone. Repeatedly. His disgustingly happy attitude was replaced with a serious look, and that was annoying as well.

"Lucy!" he was literally shouting into his phone, but the person at the other end didn't seem like replying to his shouts. At the end he finally gave up and loudly slammed the door to his room.

"I shouldn't bother him," I muttered. "I should be concerned with myself at this moment." My bandages were damp and old, so I replaced them. I also swabbed medicine on some healing cuts before I went to sleep, still thinking about that little pipsqueak.

Morning

I woke up, sore and stiff. I felt like a wet sock, and since I didn't shower last night, probably smelled like a wet sock too. I slowly put on the school uniform, after a routine of aggressive teeth-brushing and face-washing and headed out to another eventful day.

As usual, my presence made the people "politely" step out of the way. They sent me scowls and looks of fear.

Yeah, it was starting out as a totally regular day. But I saw a head of bright blue hair walking around, looking for someone. Her worried face lighted up when she found me, and waved to me, screaming my name and attracting the attention of everyone in the vicinity.

"What now?" I rolled my eyes and made my way to her. She still had a bandage on her forehead and bruises, but other than that she looked fine.

"I just want to say thanks," she smiled. "I would have been dead if you weren't here."

"Actually, you wouldn't have been dead if you didn't butt in," I pointed out.

Her lips drew into a frown. "I did not understand what you just said."

"I meant," my eye twitched. This girl really was persistent. "You shouldn't have been in the situation."

"Well I'm sorry that I'm not able to help someone in need."

"You weren't exactly helping."

"And it wasn't right for you to take all the impact."

We had a fifteen-second scowling contest until someone shouted, "Oh just get a room already!"

We then started scowling in the direction of the shout and hollered, "Shut up!"

"Anyways," the pipsqueak straightened her bag. "I want to help you with whatever issue you're dealing with right now, whether you like it or not."

"You really won't give up won't you," I sighed. "Fine, fine, help all you want, but just don't die."

"I'm not planning to," she rolled her eyes. "Well, we'll sort out the details later then."

"Later, pipsqueak," I waved her off, only to be kicked in the shin. Doubling over, I shouted, "What the fuck was that for?!"

"Don't call me pipsqueak!" she shouted back.

This will be interesting.

Levy P.O.V.

That person really was something. First, he rejects my help and now he's resorting to calling me names? I just wanted to sit him down and hammer in good manners into his brain until he spouted a tuxedo and a monocle.

Wait...did we even plan where to meet? God, he's so unorganized. I went to my first-period class, which I shared with Lucy. Sitting down and organizing my books, I realized that she wasn't here. She's usually the one who always comes super early and helps the teacher organize the paperwork.

Did something happen?

I kept looking at the classroom door to see if Lucy would come walking in, but as the tardy bell rang, no familiar faces were to be seen.

I'm going to need to talk to her later, I thought. If she misses cleaning the chalkboard, then something serious must have happened.

Afternoon

School went by without much excitement. Juvia was also gone, so that practically left me alone...until Gajeel came by and sat across from me at the school tables during lunch.

"Are your friends not here either?" Gajeel took out his clumsily wrapped sandwich from a brown paper bag stained with who-knows-what.

"Yeah," I bit into my bland yakisoba bread. "It's almost like they're avoiding us."

"Don't be stupid," Gajeel hit my head with his half-wrapped sandwich, then proceeded to eat it. "They're not going to avoid us, well at least I won't let them," he said through a mouthful of sandwich.

"Cover your mouth when you eat," I shielded myself from getting hit by the pieces of food flying from his mouth.

"You know what," Gajeel growled as food soared from his mouth like bullets from a gun. "If you can't handle this, you won't be able to handle the things we're going to need to go through."

"Speaking of that," I disposed the rest of my bread, since Gajeel's food gun of a mouth got rid of any appetite I had in the first place. "So who are these people we're dealing with?"

"It's my dad," Gajeel finished up his sandwich and started explaining. "He's held a crime record ever since he and my mom were married. He isn't really mentally stable and ended up separating our family. He later, which is kind of hard to believe, became the leader of this gang and has been lurking around the streets ever since."

"Yeah it's a little cliche that the school delinquent's dad is some underground organization boss," I remarked.

"You're exaggerating it," Gajeel rolled his eyes. "Back to the subject. My dad's group never really did anything considered bad until a few days ago when you were caught in the crossfire. I never knew he had many connections through the bad parts of Japan, so it's alarming that he can cause innocent people to get hurt, like you, or even die."

"And your point is?" I asked.

"I was getting to that," Gajeel sighed. "Stop interrupting. The point is that I need to stop this before it gets out of hand, and I want you to help me. You can either act as bait or help me formulate a plan and act it out."

"I'll take the latter," I immediately replied. "When will we start?"

"Tomrrow," he gave me his phone number. "We can converse both in and out of school. Have my number if you have any questions or if you're in trouble.

"Alright," I stood up and gathered my books and headed towards my next class. "You know, Gajeel?"

"What?" he asked.

"I feel like a spy," I smiled at him.

"Oh shut up, pipsqueak." he started walking towards his classroom.

"Maybe you should, you big fat giant!" I yell at him. He sticks his tongue out at me.

Note to self, make up better insults.

{Wow, I haven't updated in decades...and I'm sorry for that. But this chapter was more character/plot development than action, but I promise there will be more of that in the next GaLe chapter. These stories are ending soon, so I'm open for any requests for any new stories regarding any anime. And if you have any insults for Levy to say to Gajeel, please leave them in the comments. It's also my friend's birthday, so leave a happy birthday to Erin if you have the chance! Thank you!}
