We reach this large set of stores with big signs and a lot of people all shopping. No one wore black, no women wore pants and the kids were kept right at the mother's side. I feel outcasted in the black dress, no shoes and a light blue coat. My skin is so pale, my eyes and hair a light blue. People are staring and I want to hide, Azriel holds my hand firmer and keeps by my side.
"Don't look sweetheart or you will go down like your father did."
"Look away my dears there is Someone you shouldn't be like."
"See that girl with the blue hair, if you ever look like her you will go to hell and-"
"Don't worry my love I'll keep you safe from her."
I heard all kinds of terrible things like that and just cling to Azriel, seeing his horns seem to vanish and he just looked like a man with blue hair. I try to focus on my making my wings go away but they just hurt like I pushed too hard on them. I relax them and keep walking in the pavement, my feet hurting a little as my knees feel a bit unsteady.
"Pay them no mind." Azriel whispers to me and I try to ignore the harsh words from mothers to small children, or husbands to wives. I feel a bad feeling in my stomach and want to change their minds but I push down the urge of what I know as anger. But those doctors I had seen called it wrath. I know it's powerful and I keep myself as calm as I can.
"Can I get whatever I would like? Even a um.." I pause and lean a little closer so I could whisper. "A suit that will fit me?" I ask softly, nervous that someone might have heard me.
"Of course my dear." He replies, hurrying me along as more people look at me. We get to a large door and a man in a black suit stops us.
"Hey! Read the sign bud!" He shouts at Azriel, acting like I wasn't there.
We both look and see a sign. 'No shoes, no shirt, no entrance.' I give a small sigh and want to just make this guy get out of our way.
"Now can I ask how I am supposed to get my growing girl a pair of shoes if she can't come in and try them on? This is the only store in walking distance for us and I have no car." He explains, the man seems to want to let us in for a moment but he stops just as quickly.
"I'm sorry but it's strict policy." He says.
"Fine. Stay here my dear, and I'll go buy you some shoes, we will get a pair that fit you after that." Azriel says to me, hugging me close.
"Relax here for a minute and try to just take in the people around you, I'll grab you a random pair of shoes that at worst will be too big and we can go right in, okay princess?" He says softly, I nod and he lets go of me.
"Alright then, sir is it okay if she stays here with you, I would feel a lot better if she can stay with a security guard of your caliber." Azriel flatters the man and he smiles and nods. I have a terrible feeling about this as I see what I think is a slight purple hue coming off of this head.
"As long as the little miss doesn't cause me any trouble." He says, taking my arm and having me stand on his side away from the door.
"Thank you sir." Azriel says before going inside. The man lets go and I see the purple around his head fading.
I have a terrible feeling in my gut and the urge to just use a little bit of my power to make this guy leave me alone. He isn't doing anything really but I feel so completely uncomfortable that I want to make him leave me alone.
"So what is a classy man like that even doing with a young demon like you?" He asks, I look at his face to talk to him and notice something on his head that didn't match his brown hair. He had blue roots and small white things hiding in that hair.
