Welcome to the world. God's word is law and the Devil doesn't do much to influence the humans except exist. In this world, God's rule is mostly based on filling roles. A good wife is quiet and doesn't cheat or speak above her husband. The child doesn't cry or give their parents a hard time. The husband goes out to work and comes home to dinner every evening. The roles are gender and age-based, also people can undo a bad life by repenting. People closer to the tower stay in their roles.

The life of a normal citizen of Ordell, the capital of the country and houses The Tower, goes like this: Children's only worry is to be nice, have fun, and listen to their parents. In school they are to do their absolute best and dunces are heavily looked down upon by peers but teachers are to help these kids more. Teens are expected to be respectful of their parents, boys get a small job at 16 to pay their share and girls are to stay home and learn how to be a housekeeper from their mothers when not at school, or hang out with friends.

Once they graduate school, boys will go to college to learn about jobs, about skills for jobs they will be pursuing, and keeping girls out of their heads. Girls, however, go to one of 3 places; they stay home, helping around the house, learning more about being a housekeeper and if they have younger siblings, taking care of them. If not they can go to a nunnery and become a nun, they always appreciate new girls. Or three, they can go to a specialized college for the jobs a woman can do. They will spend until 30 trying to get married, and only having sex with that person to have children. To the unlucky few, they have to keep trying.

Men provide money, Women provide care, children are raised to be like their parents.

In other parts of the world, where God isn't paying as much attention, people are free to do whatever they want, they can do anything they like that the laws they set up allow.

The devil is happy to allow people to be whoever they chose and doesn't really care what you do. Hell is just a place where it's warm year-round and humans live forever, because they are dead, and can do what they like. Whatever it may be.

The world these people live in is one that does have some technology, though not used in much besides science and for well being, like hospitals.

Magic does exist in two forms, holy and unholy. People in The Tower, a massive science center above an orphanage run by the church, can use that energy to power things, converting it from magical to usable energy for factories, hospitals, and their own lab.

This conversion is sometimes what they do to run the city. Though they turned their faces from God to make such machines he pardons them seeing as they are good men that do their jobs and fit the roles he gives them. Sometimes he sends down a bad angle and they take the power from the being, draining it and burning the body once it's a drained husk.

When they heard of Morrigan, they tested a little of her energy. The energy was so pure, so refined it would power the city and any near it, forever, just one month of her life could do that. But they are greedy and keep her there to power more than their city. They attempt instead to power as much of their world as they can because as long as she powers that world, she can't access the power for herself. Without her power, for her to use, she can't break out unless she cuts them off, but who knows how long that will take.
