Chapter 9

Shit! Oh no!
I knew there was no point in trying to out run so I just stood still and saw Reiner and Bertholdt come out with wide eyes but Reiner even looked more pissed at the fact I overheard them.
"Y/N....tell me, what did you hear?"
"I-I didn't hear anything. I was just walking by. I barely got here-"
"Well we can't take your word for it. Come with us and don't try anything stupid."
"O-okay."
I have never been terrified then I am right now. I knew they didn't buy my word which made me wondered what they were planning on doing to me.
I take a good look at Bertholdt. He looks terrified for some reason.
As soon as they walked a head a bit further I made run for it.
"Don't let her get away Bertholdt!"
I had no idea where I was running but I knew I had to run somewhere, anywhere.
Just as I was about to turn a corner I felt my body being tackled to the ground and I felt a pair of strong arms squeezing me tight till I passed out.
When I came to I saw that I was chained to the wall. I was in a room. But where? Where was this place? Then I heard the door open and saw Reiner with the same angry look and Bertholdt's same terrified look.
"I'm going to ask you one more time Y/N. What did you hear?"
"I'm being honest...I didn't hear anything-"
Reiner not buying it put a bucket of water into my mouth that made me swallow a ton of water that made start choking.
"Reiner stop!" Bertholdt said as he looked at me with worried eyes.
Reiner stopped and I was starting to stop coughing.
"I have to think what I'm going to do with you Y/N. We can't let you escape. One more time. What. Did. You. Hear?"
To hell with it. I knew my life was going to end. I just stared at the ground as I started to talk.
"I...th-that..y-you tw-two are...th-the monsters that...that killed a bunch of people that day? Be-Bertholdt..yo-you're th-the Colosaal Titan...an-and Reiner you-you're the Armored Titan?" I say my voice shaky and barely a whisper.
"S-so...Be-Bertholdt...th-that means..you..you did it that time again?"
Reiner again now even more furious made me swallow more water causing me to choke a second time.
"No Reiner, if you kill her someone is going to find out and that will put the mission at risk.
Reiner stopped.
"I-I don't want to talk to the Armored or Colossal Titan. I want to talk to Bertholdt Hoover. The shy tall boy. And Reiner Braun. The big strong man who everyone see's as a brother."
"Well you can forget it cause they don't exist. You're going to be here for a few days until I decide what to do with you. I have to go somewhere. Bertholdt take care of her."
When Reiner left Bertholdt turned to me.
"Y/N I-"
Before he could finish whatever it was he was going to say I kicked him in the face over and over again letting out all my anger and when I was done I was his face all bruised. His left eye all squished and a bloody nose but who cares? People who can turn titan heal right?
"Tell me Bertholdt. That day we had our assignment. And even last night that I told you about my family and...and..ki-kissed me...WAS THAT ALL A JOKE TO YOU!?"
"Y/N I swear that I never once thought that what you said to me was a joke. Our kiss...WAS NOT A JOKE. You have to believe me when I tell you that...that I really do love you. I'm not suppose to and yet I still do. Me, Reiner, and Annie have a mission to complete. We were kids when we got told that your people is an evil race. I don't know what Annie thinks but me and Reiner could see that our people were wrong."
He slowly gets closer and holds my hand.
"People like you and your friends make us feel like normal people. Like..like we aren't the monsters we've becomed." He says his voice shaky and I could see he wanted to cry but he was holding it in.
"And as for you...I really love you. I've always thought I had some feelings for Annie and I will always care for her but I don't feel anything towards her anymore because of you. Me, her, and Reiner have always been together since we were little but I'm being honest about me loving you. I'm not suppose to but it's the heart that decides who you want to love."
I really didn't how to respond to that. I know I love him to but he's a monster. He along with Reiner killed thousands upon thousands of innocent people.
I see he took out a key that was for the shackles and unlocked them and set me free.
"Don't try to run. If you do Reiner will somehow find you."
I see a rock by a window and slowly walked to it and break the window and tried to get out but Bertholdt was quick and held me back.
"You don't get to do that. You don't get to run away Y/N."
He dragged me to another room and I was trying to hit him but with the cuts from the broken glass it was impossible.
We came to a room where he had a small first aid kit and was cleaning my cuts.
"Bertholdt tell me...what's this about "devils"."
Bertholdt looked surprised at my question.
"Well...like I said earlier, my hometown where I am from is called Marley. We were told that people who live inside the walls are devils. There's a term called racism which is the belief in the superiority of one race over another. People who use racism are called racists. But like I said...we are not like that. The minute we enrolled in the military and met all of you...you guys helped us see that our people are wrong. As much as we wanted to quit everything and give up we couldn't. If we don't do this...our family...pays the price...my dad..." He says his voice now all shaky and I see the tears streaming down his face.
After he is done cleaning my cuts he got up but looked down to the ground to hide his face.
I slowly walked up to him and he flinched a bit. Afraid that I would beat him up again. I see smoke coming from out of his nose. Could that be a healing effect?
"Be-Bertholdt?" I say as I put my hand on his cheek and stroke it and looks up and I dry his tears with my other hand.
"I-I want to hate you. I really do so badly for what you have done but yet I can't. I-I really love you."
I say as I look down. He strokes my hand and then lifts my chin up a little to make me see him.
"I-I still need to ask you a lot of questions but..but...I.."
Without saying anything else I crash my lips into his.
