Father Anderson:
I got Thorn home without incident, and she went to her room, bags in tow, and shut her door, locking it even. She looked depressed on the ride, and was silent the entire time. I heard the radio click on, and left her to her devices. I went to my office, and called Maxwell. He might have an idea that could help solve this little puzzle.
" Hello, Bishop Enrico Maxwell speaking."
" Hey, Maxwell. I have a favor to ask of Iscariot's lab team."
" What?"
" I have a girl I want to run a paternal DNA test on. Don't worry, she ain't mine, but she does look and act a lot like someone else, and answers would be a God send at this point."
" I see. Well, all we would need to run one of those is blood from the father and from the child. Do you have an idea as to who the father is?"
" I do, and you aren't going to like it."
" Who?"
" Alucard."
The line went dead silent, and then he broke out in laughter.
" Vampires can't sire babes, you know this!"
" Alucard isn't your normal vampire, Maxwell, he very well could. Look, even he believes she could be. I'm just asking for you to run a test and see."
" Fine, better safe than sorry. Don't need an abomination at the orphanage terrorizing the children."
I bristled a small bit at that statement. " She isn't an abomination, just a child who's had it rougher than either of us could ever imagine surviving."
" If she is a Damphyr, she is a danger to the other children. You know as well as I do, the only thing making them different from a vampire is the humanity they have from being half human, and even that in history hasn't stopped them from killing innocent people."
" Sânge is a good girl with a good heart, she's just been given nothing but the worst of the worst due to how she was raised. I believe with some time and a good influence, she can become a wonderful person."
" If you have faith in this child, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. I can arrange a meeting with Hellsing to address this idea, and see how willing they will be to cooperate."
" Sounds good. I need to go check on her, she's been quiet for a while. Talk to you later, Maxwell."
" Talk to you later. Goodbye."
I hung up the phone and went to check on Thorn, and knocked on her door. She didn't respond. I knocked again, and tried to open the door. I pulled out my master key, and knocked again.
" Thorn, I'm coming in."
I unlocked the door, and my heart dropped. Thorn was sitting on the floor, her shirt drenched in blood, and her mouth as well, her arms bruised and covered in bite marks, and she was crying tears of blood as well.
" Go away! Don't look at me! I'm a monster..." Her voice tampered off at the end, and was cracking from crying. I walked in, carefully. I moved to her bathroom and grabbed a dry rag and made a wet one. I moved over to her, and sat down in front of her, and I knew then and there she was a Damphyr. Only vampires or their sired cried blood, and she was fighting back sobs rather horribly.
" You are not a monster. Let me clean you up, and bandage your arms."
" No, I am a monstru, my own mother said so, and so has everyone else. I need blood to live, or else I get sick, I can't touch silver or a holy relic, I can't even eat human food with garlic in it or I get violently ill. Face it, I am the abomination everyone says I am."
