Delaney eyed Finn suspiciously. Her heart ached as she watched him. She knew it was the same boy she would play with sometimes in the halls of the Ark. He had insisted on not coming earlier, but yet here he was, ready to help. Clarke smiled in relief as she noticed he had appeared. The two girls followed closely behind him as he now led the pack. Bellamy, Murphy, and Wells held up the rear.

Delaney wondered where they were going. She wondered where exactly Jasper had been shot. Was it nearby? Did they know he would be there when they got there? If he wasn't, what would they do?

Delaney also wondered if it was the same Jasper who sat next to her in her kindergarten classes all those years ago. If so, she would do anything in her power to make sure he was alright. She would find him if he was being held by Trikru. She would help.

"Better late than never," Clarke muttered as they walked.

"Exactly my thinking. So, who's your new friend?" Finn looked slightly behind them to where Delaney was following practically on Clarke's heels.

Both of the teens ahead of her gave her a curious look and she spoke up. This time she introduced herself with less stuttering.

"Alessandra."

Finn repeated her name, nodding as he tried to remember. Clarke cut straight to the point and asked her why she had been locked up. Delaney sucked in a deep breath as she quickly tried to think of a crime.

"I stole this necklace." She pulled Becca's necklace out of her shirt.

"Then how come you weren't out with the rest of us? I'd recognize you." Finn disagreed.

"I was in solitary confinement. It was from one of the councilmen and I saw some plans they didn't want the people to know about. Enough so that they locked an eight-year-old girl up for it."

She held her head high as she told the story with confidence. Being on the ground had taught her how to lie with sincerity. After all, there were some things you had to keep from others to protect yourself. On the ground, Delaney learned that protecting herself was a priority.

Clarke nodded. She didn't say anything in response, and Delaney couldn't tell it Clarke believed her. Delaney didn't want to know. She just hoped that the blonde did and left it at that, not wanting to push herself into an anxiety-filled, obsessive place she knew she wouldn't get out of.

As they walked on Delaney drifted slightly off from Clarke and Finn. She was content walking through the woods by herself. Clarke and Finn chatted to her left and Bellamy, Murphy, and Wells trampled through the lush greenery on her right.

"So what's your deal? Why are you out here?"

Delaney wasn't caught off guard by the sudden voice, but rather by the question. She turned to look at whoever had started speaking only to find Murphy matching his step to hers. She glanced behind him to see that Bellamy and Wells were deep in conversation.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

Delaney wasn't going to lie. It felt good to be speaking her own language again. The one she was learned on the Ark. Sure she and the people of the ground spoke English now and then, but the majority of the time their words were those from the ground's new language.

"Why are you out here looking for Goggles? You two friends?"

"You could say that." Delaney smiled slightly, remembering that the Jasper she knew used to always wear a pair of skiing goggles.

"I wouldn't take you for someone who medicates," Murphy commented.

Delaney turned to look at him while they walked. She couldn't tell if she knew him or not. Delaney couldn't recall anyone named Murphy on the Ark. Then again, it was a long time ago and she didn't know everyone on the station.
