Delaney was up by the time the sun's rays found their way into her windows. It had already been two weeks since the fight of Moun-de. Everyone was adjusting to life after war, specifically after Finn's death and the betrayal of Trigedakru at the doors of Moun-de. Delaney had a slight limp and she couldn't stand for very long, but she also knew that with time she would heal. It was part of who she was to look forward, especially after events some would consider traumatic.
Sleeping in was also a part of who Delaney was, especially on days where the sun hit perfectly into her home and warmed everything up. Especially when she was still recovering. Delaney was pulled from her sleepy state when the radio squawked.
"You up yet, Killer?"
Delaney groaned but couldn't help but to smile. She rolled over, grabbing the radio as she got up.
"I thought you've forgotten." Delaney dangled her legs over the open hatch in her floor, waiting for him to respond.
She set the radio down, pulling her hair back to braid it. Today was an exciting day. Not only was she meeting with Bellamy, but she had also planned something fun. Delaney figured they were both overdue for something fun. Everything had been about fighting and surviving since they met.
"Maybe just where you live. I think I'm lost."
Delaney rolled her eyes. She strapped the radio onto her pants and turned to slide down the ladder. Her feet hit the forest floor and she started walking toward Camp Jaha.
It wasn't that Delaney didn't want to stay there. It was just. . . different than what she was used to. Being with so many people, especially people who resented grounders, was not something Delaney wanted. Sure she had friends there and her father was there, but things were always awkward between them. Her father didn't know what to say. Delaney wasn't used to the way they acted and talked. With the people of the clans, Delaney didn't have to exchange pleasantries and ask how others were doing. They just skipped to the point. The people of the Ark seemed to resent how she spoke to them sometimes. After only a few days, Delaney decided it would be best for everyone if she moved out.
Delaney spun around, leaving her thoughts, as a branch snapped. She instantly blocked an attack with a knife, pushing his arms away as he swung toward her.
With her free hand, Delaney grabbed her own knife from her holster. She dropped to the ground, kicking out Bellamy's legs as he swung the knife over her head. He landed on his back with a thud.
Delaney was standing over him in an instant, pointing her knife down at him. "That wasn't bad. Would've been better if you weren't so loud."
"Come on." He complained. "I snap one branch and you go all Bruce Lee on me."
"Am I supposed to know what that means?" Delaney questioned. She offered him help up with her other hand, pulling Bellamy to his feet.
"I guess not." Bellamy scratched the back of his head.
"Good. We've got things to do."
Delaney led him through the forest. They walked side by side, taking in the scenery as they spoke. Delaney was trying to teach him the language of the ground.
"Where are we going, anyway?" Bellamy asked as he stepped over a fallen log.
"Right here. This is woda. Water."
"You know I can't swim." He deadpanned.
"That's why we're here. Because I can. I'd like to say I'm a pretty good teacher, too."
Delaney pulled her shirt up and over her head. After she took off her socks, shoes, and pants she turned toward Bellamy. His eyes trailed her body. Her homemade undergarments covered everything they needed too. Bellamy could see a little bit of her tan line under the straps from her bra.
