I looked back up at Ale, stuffing my phone in my pocket.

His arms were crossed over his chest as he watched me with an eyebrow raised, blinking in confusion. "Everything okay? Or,"

"Everything's fine! I just, um, I have to pee." I said quickly, handing him my bag. Speedwalking to the bathroom, I pulled out my phone.

You: What could you possibly want?

I closed the stall door behind me, sitting on the toilet seat.

Mattia Polibio is typing...

Mattia Polibio: We need to discuss homecoming night.

No we don't???

You: There's nothing to discuss.

Mattia Polibio is typing...

...
...

The three dots disappeared after a few seconds as I took a sigh of relief, burying my head in my hands.

"Mattia."

The boy looked up from his phone, to his girlfriend, who was waiting for him on the counter. Lexa drummed her manicured nails on the marble, sighing.

"Give me a second baby, Ill be right there."

Isabella C: What could you possibly want?

Mattia bit the inside of his cheek, letting out a weird huff. What did he want?

You: We need to discuss homecoming night.

Isabella C is typing...

Isabella C: There's nothing to discuss.

"Shit." Mattia cursed under his breath. His fingers danced above the screen, as he contemplated what to right.

As soon as he got the idea, his phone was ripped out of his hands, into the hands of Lexa.

She read over the texts, her eyes clouding over as she looked at him, hurt casting a veil over her face.

"Mattia.." She murmured, her voice breaking.

Mattia felt his heart drop. Uh oh.

"Why are you still texting her? Actually no. Why are you texting her about homecoming?" She asked, anger filling her voice.

"I-I wasn't, Lex."

Lexa let out a sarastic laugh, eyeing him. "And you have the audacity to lie to me?"

"Lex, please I, I'm sorry," Mattia began but he was cut off once more.

"No. Enough is enough. We're done." She spoke.

Mattia felt like his whole world had just crashed down on him as she spoke those words. He could hear his heart beating in his ears, his stomach dropping in his body.

His vision blurred slightly as he looked up at her, his voice coming out as nothing but a harsh whisper.

"W-what?"

"Didn't you hear what I just said?" She snapped, looking up at him.

Slamming his phone back into his hands, she turned, circling the counter, before looking at him straight in the eye. "Get out."

"Baby-"

"I said get out." A heavy silence occupied the air for a while, as Mattia stared at her, incapable of comprehending what had just happened.

He moved, his steps feeling heavier with each foot he raised. He was unaware of what he was doing, letting his body control his mind for once.

The cold chilly air whipped around his shoulders as he stepped out into the winter night, blinking.

The stars twinkled in the sky, the wind blowing a soft breeze past his ears, goosebumps raising on his skin.

He pulled his jacket on, swallowing, tears filling his eyes. Wiping them away quickly, he huffed, pulling himself together. But , there was a problem.

Mattia Polibio, for the first time in his life, didn't know what to do next.
