certain characters have backstories that require more than 2 parts.lol some people's lives aren't as boring
(also this is kinda short since it's kinda just explaining the whole ' aina ' thing. i don't wanna talk about the camp 'cause it's really offensive
yeah, lots of those christian centers end up abusing the people who go there. so uh)

Mita crumpled the paper and threw it on the ground, showing her parents her best tear-stained face as she stomped on it repeatedly, clouds of dust filling the night sky and making her mother flinch. "Y-You fucks! Why the Hell am I getting sent away?! Like it's my fault you two don't know how to properly raise a child! I hate you! I hate you!"
"We're doing this because we love you, Aina-" Her mother argued.
Mita cut her off with a furious cry. "This isn't love! Love is teaching your kid yourself, not being so fucking lazy you throw them at someone else to deal with! You don't respect me at all! I've told you countless times that Aina isn't my name! Aina is fucking dead you witch - can you stop trying to replace me with her?!"
Her mother covered her mouth, tears welling up in her eyes. Her eyebrows furred and she looked royally pissed off, but Mita didn't care - she felt the same. "How dare you?"
"How dare you not accept the truth? Do you need me to spell it out for you? Here: A-I-N-A - space - I-S - space - D-E-A-D." Mita shot back.
When her mother happily announced the gender of the new baby, their family was just your typical run-of-the-mill sitcom family. Strict yet caring father, overbearing and worrying mother, and the happy-go-lucky kid who walked around with a smile and a prideful stride. Her mother seemed completely fine, so her complications were a shock to the entire family.
She would have trouble sleeping hearing her mother cry at night, exclaiming about how her baby was dying, and that she felt pain all over. The doctors told her that she had to, ' exterminate ' the baby if she wanted any chance of surviving the birth. Her mother was stubborn. She refused to believe the baby (who she had named Aina, and by then, seemed to completely forget Mita existed) was going to die.
But, of course, the doctors were right. Aina survived less than a day after birth, and the complications and struggles of it sent Mita's mother into a week-long coma. Her father let her skip school that whole week, bringing the two of them to the hospital so they would sit by her bed and pray. Did Mita believe in a God? Hell no, considering what it let them go through, but if it gave him comfort, she'd do it.
When she went back, her teachers all exclaimed how worried they were - "Don't worry if you can't finish any homework. I'll let you do it whenever you're mentally prepared." Mita didn't appreciate the fact that they thought she was stupid just because her mother was in the hospital.
The doctors said her mother was having brain problems - she'd live. She would just be fucked in the head.
That's where it all started.
The moment her mother registered what was happening, Mita put her hand on hers and asked, "Mama? Can you hear me? You're awake? Did the man in the sky bring 'ya back to us?"
"Is that..." Her mother smiled, weakly, fragile, and absolutely delusional. "Aina. I... I knew you'd survive. Those damn doctors didn't know anything. You're alive. You've grown so much since I last saw you... how many years has it been?"
Mita laughed weakly, thinking it was just a joke - her mother always joked when she was upset. "I'm not Aina, Mama. It's me - Mita."
"Oh, you're funny." Her mother giggled, trying to catch her breath. "Unless I'm having another baby... Aina, fetch the nurse for me. I'm starved."
"I'm serious, Mama. I'm Mita. Aina didn't make it."
"I don't like this joke, Aina. Who's this ' Mita ' girl? She your friend?"
"...What?"
From that moment on, Mita knew she was delusional. She knew ' Mita ' no longer existed to her - she was being replaced by that stupid baby. And now? Seeing her like this? She never changed - never tried to accept it. No matter how many pictures or videos she showed her, she remained as Aina. Her father tried to tell her, tried to remind her of her other child, but she lashed out - called them both crazy. He tried to call Mita by her new, fake name once she threatened divorce.
Mita's mother put a hand on her shoulder, gentle and loving, yet cold and distant, like they were steadily growing. "Aina. I hate what we've become. I hate how you doubt how much I love you. I... I just want us to be happy. I can't do it alone. I need help, and these people know exactly how to help you."
Mita didn't have the energy to step back by now. She looked at her toes, spit, and pushed past her parents. "I wish you died instead of Aina. You're a sick fuck."
She walked away, ignoring her mother as she buried her face in her hands and sobbed.

She knew they wouldn't send the stupid cop after her, at least for now. She still had time to do one last thing before she was sent off. She didn't have many friends - she was a loner in her class. Nobody hated her, but nobody went out of their way to talk to her. She wasn't bullied, she was just that kid who never had a partner for a group project, so she was assigned a group instead, who didn't seem upset to be with her rather than just awkward.
She slouched, crouching as she approached the bridge Rock Boy was always sitting under.
He wasn't here now - he probably went home or ran away from the police. He was skittish like that. She'd feel like shit if she didn't at least tell him she was being forced to go somewhere for a while. Realizing she had no paper, she found a spot with hardly any pebbles and pushed them aside.
Making sure the tide by the bridge didn't go on top of that area, she made sure her letters were legible and wrote him a little message in the sand.
' being sent to a youth center for 2 months
cya
- mita '
Realizing she had no more excuses to run away from her problems, Mita skipped a pebble in the bridge water and walked away as it sunk to the river floor.
