A/N; sorry if this is trash lol. I feel like it's not as good as the first, it's like the sequel that everyone asked for but once they got it they were like, "no take it back." I hope you enjoy it still. Same rules as last time! Maybe Leerens isn't your cup of tea but it's nice to I guess watch the ship sink I guess?

Lie to Me"

The words Charles had muttered. The frozen John left at a loss. John tried to search for the right words, nothing. Nothing at all. He couldn't speak, for the prospect of speaking the phrase- was lost to him. His mind raced in the back it pressured him to say 'I love you' but as soon as the memo would reach his throat nothing would come out.

Charles turned his eyes up slightly, he looked like a kicked puppy, he looked desperate, as if he was pleading without saying a word. John's heart ached, he didn't like seeing others this way. But the lie he'd have to tell saw too much for him. Even if he did speak, it wouldn't matter now huh? He had the chance. Charles gave him it, it was a simple question, but a complex answer.

Charles wished for the sound of ringing to stop entering his ears. The 'ding, ding, ding' giving him the feeling of being stabbed. John still didn't reach for the phone, he let it make its noise until Charles finally spoke, "... Please, can you turn off your text notifications?" Charles asked surprisingly civil. John was still startled but nodded reaching for the phone. He looked at the texts and though a part of him on the inside would flutter and blush the rest would chastise him for even thinking of him at that moment. He should pay attention to Charles, not him.

John put the phone on the bedside table after unlatching himself from Charles. Charles brought his gaze to the ground, looking towards the right opposite of John. John looked towards the ground as well but slowly brought his eyes to glimpse at Charles again, he still not making eye contact. "I'm sorry-" John tried to start after a silent pause. " please-...don't speak...please? Lov- Joh-Laurens..." Charles cut him off sharply, his tone becoming softer towards the end.

John nodded solemnly, of course, John's mind raced as to what to do- but. What about Charles? The love he thought he had for years- melted away. The memories- no longer meant anything. The smiles John gave him, were those...fake too? He had heard of relationships like before, he was never in one himself. He heard how hard they were to leave. And- for the life of him Charles couldn't argue.

Everything he'd done with John seemed to crumble before his very eyes, the image he saw seemed to collapse too, the man he loved the most couldn't even give him an 'I love you'? 'pitiful' Charles thought. The irony is that... No matter how much Charles felt the castle walls he built collapse in on him and John... He couldn't help but want to try and hold them up. It was broken now...everything was, he knew. But. The love was still there, the feeling of care was still there. And at that moment Charles hated that.

Charles brought his legs upon the bed and scrunched them in. He rested his head on top of his knees and dug his face in, there he spoke softly, "...I love you." it was muffled, hardly audible, Charles said it one last time, hanging on to a string of hope. But John got it, his ears we're a costume to the phrase from him. "I-I" John tried to figure out his words, this time Charles not stopping him, "I...I...know...and I, care for you..." Those were the words he managed, Charles shuffled slightly.

Then. John's phone began to ring, John didn't turn off calls. Charles moved his head to look towards the phone sharply. John brought his gaze slowly towards the device. John looked back at Charles, his eyes seemed watery but it was as if he refused to cry. Charles turned his head away, and John took it as a response to pick it up. John hesitated but then picked it up bringing it to his ear.

John put on a quick smile that covered the uncomfortable tone in his voice. "Hi!" John waited for a moment apparently getting a response, "oh uh yeah! T-That's fine!" John said sparing a glance at the unmoved Charles, " He uh...wouldn't care anyway, " a beat of silence is there then it's starting again, " no uh, he doesn't." John gulps looking down a guilty look in his eyes, they're wide and look as if their looking for something that isn't there.

"haha...yeah..." John chuckles softly, there is a moment of silence then a murmur over the phone, he then speaks in a very soft tone, a teary edge to his words as he then takes a glance at Charles who has now moved to sit with his legs over the edge hugging his midsection. "...love you," John says weakly then hanging up the phone averting his gaze from Charles. John hears a shuffle and a small 'thud' on the floor.

" Charles I gotta-" "have to go? You have to go...right Laurens?" Charles asks with a shaky sigh, a cold distant tone in his voice, "...yeah." John nods his head looking back at Charles who has now stood up. John walks towards Charles and gives him a hug. "I'm sorry..." John mumbled shakily, Charles gives John a small shove who reluctantly steps away from Charles.

John starts towards the door, his feet dragged, they begged him to stay, fix this, fix them, fix him. But he couldn't seem to turn around. John grazed the door handle but stopped, " I'm sorry-" he was cut off by the tearful voice of Charles, " Laurens...no.

I'm sorry...

For believing in something that is not true...

                         I'm sorry my love..."

With that, John left, he could only hear an inaudible mumble as he went, followed by a choked sob.

A/N; I'm sorry you had to sit through that

A/N; I'm sorry you had to sit through that. It's not as good as the first *sigh*. I mean enjoyed writing it but I don't think it'll get much better than that so you will have to forgive me. If you think a warning should be added and then I will add it.
