Across from the fences and kids doing warm ups for physical ed, the subtle hum of morning traffic; the brief calmness that washed over Judd and Alix was interrupted by the first period coming to the end with the ringing of a bell that could burst ear drums.
"Let's get out of here"
"The day just started? My parents would freak if they found out that I was ditching"

The sternness in his voice sent chills down her spine, the morning breeze hit Alix's face like a brick wall while she processed what Judd had said to her.
