The rain never ceased that night, the pattern of light and heavy downpours creating startling sounds every once and a while. Being placed in quite a predicament from the day's festivities, Judd and Alix had to face the problem at hand.
"Some day, huh?"
Alix's eyes lifted to see Judd's; who's eyes were wandering around his room, failing to meet the girl sitting with him. A small chuckle could be heard,
Thoughts raced though Alix's head; she abruptly stood up from the late-teenaged boy's bed and bolted out, rushing into the hall bathroom that was adjacent to Judd's bedroom.
Locking herself in and slowly sliding down the fragile door frame, Alix quietly sobbed, slow heavy metal music could be heard but muffled greatly from the barricaded bedroom, two unfamiliar voices that sounded more matured and loving could be heard just outside of the bathroom,
"Oh, I don't know, Diane- He's just a little young!"
A man's shrill voice boomed through the hallway, a saccharine woman's voice solemnly replied,
"Elliot, we cant keep protecting him, he's our oldest boy, we have to let him leave the nest sooner or later"
Captivated by the discussion outside, Alix eagerly yearned to match a face to the voices outside; peeking out from the bathroom, an average height white man in a pastel dress shirt and slacks with salt and pepper hair was accompanied by a ginger woman that dawned pearls on her clavicle. Shifting to get a closer look, Alix lost her balance and an audible thud could be heard by Diane and Elliot,
"Hello? Who's out there?"
Elliot squeaked out a defensive reply, Diane mustering up the courage to check out the cause of the noise herself, only to reveal a disheveled Alix with red and puffy eyes from crying.
"Are you one of Lia's friends?"
Before Alix could let out a choked up reply, the eldest son of the Birch family chimed in ever so gracefully with his gruff and raspy voice,
"No, fucktards, she's with me".
