*Sam's POV*
My eyes slipped open as my whole body was sore. Not the first thing I wanted to wake up to, but not every day is great... I tried to push myself up only to have a sharp pain course through my side. I quickly grabbed it and laid back down, trying to bite back my tears. What happened to me?
I felt so confused, until I lifted the covers to see bandaging wrapped around the lower half of my torso. Sighing, I dropped the covers and flopped my head back onto the pillows. Wait a second... Was I seeing things? Something was on my arm... I lifted my right arm as my eyes grew wide. What is this!? Where did this mark come from!?
Everything was such a blur right now... Let's see... I remember...dueling Kalin and winning. That would explain my side, but this mark? Hang on, Goodwin said something about either me or Leo being the fifth Signer chosen by the Crimson Dragon... This must mean that I'm the fifth Signer... Well, now that I've gotten the situation panned out, how can I help everyone if I'm in too much pain to even move?
There was a knock at the door as someone entered. It was Yusei as he saw my eyes open. He rushed to my side, apparently glad to see me finally awake... "You're finally awake."
I smiled weakly. "For now..." I lifted my arm. "Umm, care to explain this?"
"That's the final mark of the Crimson Dragon. You're the fifth Signer, Sam."
"Maybe so..." I looked up at the ceiling. "...but how can I help in my current condition? I'm suppose to be useful, but all I seem to do is get in the way of everything... I'm so useless..."
"Don't say that, you're much more than that and you know it..."
"Can you at least help me up? I'm starving and my throat is killing me. At least help me to the couch." I said.
Yusei chuckled. "Fine, it's the least I could do for saving my life. A life for a life I guess."
I smiled. "Touché."
The raven stood as I threw the covers off to reveal myself in a pink, spaghetti strap tank top and a pair of matching shorts. I swear, if one of those morons put me in this, I will end them... Yusei carefully put my arm around him as he lifted me up. I winced in pain, Yusei being my support as I was limped into the living room to see everyone there. I glanced over at the clock as it wasn't even 9:00 yet. The sun had already set as I was sat down in the nearest chair.
"Sam! You're finally up!" Martha said as she came into the room to see me.
"Hi, Martha..." I said, holding my side.
She came over to me and lifted my shirt to show my bandaging as they looked fine. "Looks like it's stopped bleeding. It took a while too, that thing did not wanna stop! Can I get you something to drink?"
"Water would be nice..." I said.
After a couple hours, I tried to stand on my own, but I needed support. I guess that duel really did a number on my body. Even with psychic powers, I took some major damage... To be honest, I'm surprised I even won that duel, much less survived it... I asked everyone about the other Dark Signers and so far Aliza took care of Misty, Jack took care of Carly, Crow took care of Greiger, and Yusei took care of Roman. Now Luna and I still had to free our dragons and take care of another Dark Signer, but even then, there was still one more, but I just didn't know who...
I stood up and took a couple steps, only to collapse onto my knees as Yusei got to my level, helping me up. I held my side that was probably bleeding again as I winced from the pain. "You're not strong enough to walk yet, Sam.""But...I have to help Luna free Ancient Fairy Dragon and Galaxy Nova Dragon to defeat the other Dark Signer."
"Sam, you're too weak right now."
