I feel something tickle my nose, I scrunch it up turning my head into Toby's shoulder.
"Spencer," I hear Hanna whisper in my ear. I bat away her face, pushing her cheek away lightly to get her to leave me alone. "Spencer," she whines. I give a huff lifting my head to see Hanna sitting against the coffee table. The sun peeking in through the open blinds at the front doors.
"Your room is so sunny in the morning," She huffs. "It woke me up. I don't know how Caleb can sleep through it."
"You're waking me up because?" I respond to her. Giving her a glare for pulling me out of my nice dream.
"Can you make me some toast?" She asks. "I don't know where anything is in this house," She tells me getting up from the ground. I let out a little groan, gently pushing off Toby and walking over to the kitchen. I lean down in a groan, pulling up the toaster from under the counter and put it on the kitchen counter, sliding in two pieces of white toasts in the slots. "With butter please."
"Anything else princess?" I ask her.
"You're so nice in the morning," She responds to me. Her eyes drift over to the french press sitting by the sink. I roll my eyes picking up the press and dumping in some coffee and hot water. Letting it sit well I butter Hanna's toast.
"Oh, can I have some too?" Emily asks as she sits by the island by Hanna. I drop more bread into the toaster and pour some coffee into our mugs. Sliding them both a cup and grabbing one for myself.
"Spencer isn't a morning person," Hanna tells her as she nibbles on her bread.
"What time is it?" I ask them. Chugging the coffee out of the cup and going to fill it up again. The cup is lifted out of my hands and I turn around to see Toby behind me. His eyes tired and hair a mess. He ships the coffee from the cup staring at me as he empties the cup.
" One cup minimum," He reminds me. I hear Emily snort from behind me as Toby continues to look at me drinking what should have been my coffee.
"Why are we awake so early?" Aria asks shuffling down the stairs and moving over to lean into Hanna. "Ooh Toast," She smiles, grabbing a slice from Hanna. I give Emily her food moving over to lean against Toby's chest.
"Spencer's room lets off way too much light, and I came to wake up her," Hanna says as she happily drinks the coffee.
"Yeah screw you," I mutter watching her as she happily drinks the bitter liquid. "What time is it?" I ask again. Hoping for an answer this time.
"9:30" Hanna responds.
"Oh, my mom's calling," Emily says, grabbing her phone from the counter and walking off to the side room.
"Holy shit have you guys seen the news?" Caleb asks walking down the stairs rubbing his hands through his hair.
"Oh god, who's dead now?" Aria mutters looking over to the kitchen T.V. that Toby flicks on. On it displays a snow-covered rosewood. The 6 feet towers of snow towering over cars and ice-covered streets.
"Rosewood has been hit with the worst snowstorm in years, The mayor of the city is advising to only leave the house if it is an absolute emergency. Looks like it is going to be a white Christmas for the citizens of rosewood." The news anchor speaks.
"My mom can't come home for Christmas," Emily says, sitting down on the island.
"That's insane, I haven't seen a storm like this in years," Aria responds.
"What do we do?" Hanna asks. Her question was directed towards Caleb mostly.
"We have our own Christmas," Ezra says, walking down the stairs.
"Of course he loves Christmas," I mutter. Toby laughs a little, his arms squeezing me to his chest.
"Where is your Christmas shit we are going to decorate?" Ezra says, clapping his hands.
"In the barn," I tell him. He looks at me dumbfounded for a second before I let out a laugh looking at his disdainful face for thinking he has to truck it through the snow. "It's downstairs," I tell him with a laugh.
"Ha you should see your face," Aria says with a giggle, stealing a slice from Emily's plate too.
"Do you want your toast?" I ask her. She nods her head with a smile, as Ezra moves over to the basement door.
"I'll help I guess,' Caleb says with a groan getting up from the auto-man. "Spence?" He states with a smile.
"Yeah, I'll just make breakfast," I mutter moving over to the fridge and pulling out eggs. Toby gives me a quick kiss before moving downstairs to help Ezra and Caleb lug up the Christmas decorations.
"You're helping me cook," I tell Emily as she leans on the counter beside me.
"Yeah yeah okay," She tells me. Grabbing a pan from under the counter and setting it on the stove. We spend the majority of the day setting up the Christmas decorations. After we ate a quick breakfast we set up the tree together, put up garland on the staircase and set up snow scenes on the fireplace mantel. Ezra ended up finding a turkey in the basement fridge from Thanksgiving when my parents didn't come home. Emily and Hanna make mashed potatoes and Aria makes roasted carrots. We ended up having a lovely Christmas eve dinner, all of us telling stories of our failed family holidays and eating the food we made for each other.
"Do the roads look better?" Emily asks peeking out the window to try and see the road.
"Yeah I think they probably cleared it by now," Caleb says peeking over Emily to see the road.
A bright light catches my attention from my spot by the kitchen counter. I squint out looking to see one of the pine trees lit up by Christmas lights. Aria tugs my sleeve as we walk out of the backdoor to see the fully decorated tree lit up by Christmas decorations and lights.
"Aw, Emily did you do this?" Paige asks walking out into the snow followed by everyone else.
"Um no?" She asks, stepping out and walking over to Paige. I feel Toby walk up behind me, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. My eyes snap over to the barn doors where lights begin to light up in a sequence. Merry Christmas Bitches -A lights up in big Christmas letters across the barn doors. I lean into Toby as an eerie feeling settles over the group, as we stare at the flickering lights on the tree and gloomy messages on the barn doors.
