"So you want to check it out?" Emily asks.
"Yes, I do" I tell them as we sit at one of the tables in the cafe.
"Remember what happened last time we did that?" Hanna asks with a laugh. "Didn't end too well," She continues on.
"He is working the night shift this week, it will be fine," I responded.
"Remember Mona's mom wants us to go see her next week, about the funeral stuff," Hanna says once the bell rings.
"You doing okay Han?" Aria asks as she opens up her locker and grabs some books out.
"I don't know how to feel. This doesn't seem real," She admits. "Can I have some gum? That coffee was so bitter."
"Tasted fine to me," I comment as Aria hands Hanna some gum.
"Of course you did," Hanna mutters. Aria shuts her locker before we head separate ways.
"I'm worried about her," I comment to Aria as we walk towards English.
"Me too," Aria says, holding her books over her stomach. As she is so small it is obvious about her growing stomach. She told her parents about it and they were pissed at first but her mom came around. Ezra got a job at Hollis for a tutor as well as his new found pride at the Brew so they have begun to look for a new place seeing as Ezra's apartment is so tiny. "I'd tell Toby about the Radley thing, you know how crazy that place is Spence," She warns.
"I used to sneak in and out all the time, so did Toby and Mona. I'll be fine I promise," I reassure her before we take our seats in class.
After a full day of class I head back to Toby and I's house. We've been living together for nearly 3 weeks now and it's been fantastic. I grew up in a completely different environment, one that was solely competitive, Toby is loving and his house is full of honey accidents and cozy blankets. I've felt more at home with him living with him for less than a month than I have when my family for the past 17 years. I open the door to the apartment, putting my car keys on the counter by the door of the loft.
"Hey," His voice fills the room. Scarring the life out of me as I jump on my spot. I turn around to see him sitting at the kitchen table, a stack of paperwork in front of him.
"Jesus I thought you were working the night shift," I tell him, putting my hand over my heart as I walk into the loft. Seeing him here puts a damper on my plan for Radley and I know I need to find an excuse quickly.
"Glad to see you too," He tells me as I walk over to sit beside him, I place my phone and bag on the ground beside him.
"I'm sorry if I knew you'd be home I wouldn't have made plans tonight. I'm supposed to go see Aria about her further apartment with Ezra," I tell him.
"Okay, sounds fun," He tells me with a nod before looking back to his paperwork. I get up moving to the bedroom to change into a pair of leggings and a sweater. I sigh knowing that this will be a struggle to escape from Toby.
"What did you say you were doing with Emily?" Toby asks his gaze, staying on whatever he is working on.
"Oh just something about her essay for History," I tell him as I grab a water bottle from the fridge.
"Why are you lying?" He asks me. I turn around to see him leaning against the table instead of his spot sitting. Behind him is my phone on the counter and the blue prints obviously open on the table.
"I didn't know you were going to be home," I say trying to give an excuse.
"That is not good enough Spencer, why do you have blueprints of Radley and what were you actually planning to do tonight?" He questions his obvious face with distress and anger.
