Her mother steps out of the courtyard, smiling at Jīvitaya as she leaves her with her new teacher. He bows once more.
"Lilaria. I am Azan, your Drial."
"Drial?"
He frowns, confused by the fact that she doesn't recognize the word. "Drial means teacher. Don't you know that?"
Jīvitaya shakes her head. "No, I've only been here a few days."
He sucks in a breath. "So you aren't the Lialaria?"
Jīvitaya sighs. "I am, it's a really long story."
He motions to one of the chairs. "Please sit, I need to know the circumstances before I start teaching."
"Very well." Jīvitaya sits, and Azan sits across from her. "Somehow, when they tried to hatch my egg, I was transported to Earth, a planet in the Saliente Galaxy. I grew up there. Then a few months ago, I was kidnapped and tortured by the Selemats, and their Lilar, Kysanden, rescued me. That was when we found out that I wasn't human, so we traveled between planets and galaxies trying to find where I belong. We found the answer here, learning that I was the Lilaria."
"So you're the egg that everyone thought had failed?"
Jīvitaya nods, taking out her pendant. She shows him the dust and the shell inside. "Apparently."
He thinks for a moment. "When did you discover your powers? And what are they?"
She hands him the crystal pendant. "I learned how to use some of nature a few weeks ago, and more of it today. The clear crystal that everyone gets confused by is technology, and it turns out that I've been using that one all my life."
"And water? How long have you been using that?"
Jīvitaya shrugs. "About an hour or so."His eyes widen. "But you're already so advanced! That's impossible."
"I'm apparently a fast learner."
He hands the pendant back to her, and she slips it over her neck. "Have you learned to use any of the other powers?"
She shakes her head. "A little bit of spirit, only because I would accidentally astral project when I slept." There is a movement from behind her and she turns her head slightly to see Laira, in lynx form. "Hello, where have you been?"
Laira purrs and her form ripples to become the fluffy red and white kitten before she jumps onto Jīvitaya's lap. Jīvitaya looks up to see Azan staring at Laira in amazement. She smiles and explains.
"This is Laira, she is a Metanmio Cat from Gaia, a planet in the Hala Galaxy."
"She is beautiful. Are those her only two forms?"
Jīvitaya shakes her head. "No, she has three others."
He nods. "Before we start anything, I must inform you of something. While I have many powers, like most Drials, I don't have the power of nature, and of course, I don't have the power of technology. Only you have that one. However, I heard that you have a friend who has the power of nature, and your father does as well, so I don't think we need to find you another Drial for that power."
Jīvitaya nods. "I understand. When are we going to start?"
He looks up at the sky. "Tomorrow morning, in the air courtyard. I believe it is time for the evening meal."
On cue, her mother appears at the entrance to the courtyard and motions for her to exit. Jīvitaya smiles and exits the courtyard. She eats quickly and goes to her room, collapsing onto her bed in exhaustion. She barely even registers Laira curling up beside her in lynx form before she falls into a dreamless sleep.
