Chapter 22

Kris was laying in the hospital surprised at the fact that Rose was in the room with her. Rose was standing there not knowing what she was even doing. She had her arms crossed in front of her as she was looking down messing with her hands as she moved her right foot. The way that one does when they are hiding embarrassment in a cute way. 

"I didn't think you would come. I'm assuming you had gotten my text." Kris said, hoping that Rose would stop standing in the door way looking away from her. 

Rose slowly inched her way into the room to go to Kris' side. She didn't want to eknowledge the statement that Kris said. Rose finally got to Kris's bed side and slowly looked up to Kris. Kris was just staring at her with tears in her eyes. Rose didn't know what to say or why she should be caring about the fact that Kris was in the hospital but she did care. They both looked at each other. Just staring, not saying a word but they were saying plenty with just the looks on their faces. In those few moments they both forgot every bad thing that had happened and that was done during their life of knowing each other. All they knew was that they wanted to be together. 

"I love you." Kris says softly, holding back tears.

Rose looked at her and smiled a little bit.

"I love you too." Rose responds.

Rose sits at the edge of Kris' bed and lays on her chest, listening to her heartbeat. She just lays there enjoying this moment as Kris softly cries.

Rose sits up and looks at Kris.

"I can't do this with you." Rose says with a tear falling down her cheek.

"Why?" Kris says as her voice cracks a little.

"Out of all the things that you have done to me. I still love you and I want to be with you but I can't be with some who will continuously hurt me and expect me to forgive them. You being in this accident showed me that. I have friends and someone who would love me and treat me how I should be treated. They wouldn't continuously hurt me, they would do everything they can in their power not to. Thank you for showing me that and for letting me see myself worth. I hope you have a great rest of your life and hopefully we will cross paths in the future." Rose says and gets up walking out of the room to avoid hearing what Kris has to say.

As Rose walked down the hospital halls to the elevator she was crying softly. Just soft enough so then no one can hear her. She stood in front of the elevator doors waiting for them to open so then she can go down to the lobby to get the pizza that she said she would get. The doors finally opened and she seen Asher standing in the elevator. Rose steps in and presses the lobby button and the doors shut. 

"Are you okay?" Asher asked looking at Rose. 

"Yes. Yes I am." Rose says, wiping the tears away and smiling.

Rose finally felt a weight lifting off her shoulders. She felt a relief as she stood there next to Asher.

"That is good to here then?" Asher says scooting closer to Rose. 

Rose looks up at Asher.

"I appreciate your interest in me I really do but I don't want anything with you. You seem nice but right now I can't handle anything more than just friends." Rose says stepping away from Asher.

Asher stood there shocked since she is not use to being told that. She thought that Rose and her had a connection when they were at the coffee shop. She feels as if she had read the situation wrong at that point.

"I apologize." Asher says stepping back.

The doors end up stopping for Asher's floor. Asher doesn't look at Rose to say goodbye or anything instead she just walks out. The doors slowly closed behind her.

Rose was in the elevator alone. Trying to wrap her head around all that has happened today and past them several months. The elevator then stops and opens the door on the 1st floor before the lobby and someone walks in. Rose feels as if she has met this person before but she is unsure. The person stands next to her and sees that the lobby button was already pressed so they instead press the close elevator door button. They both just stand there in silence. Rose makes a few glances at the new person trying to get a sense of who they are. 

The doors open to the lobby finally and they both step out. Rose turns one last time in the direction of the stranger, but the stranger is gone. As if they completely vanished. 

Rose shrugs it off and walks out of the hospital doors to see a bright light blinding her. 

She blinks her eyes slowly to see her looking up at hospital lights. She hears a faint noise of a heartbeat monitor and a light touch on her hands. It takes a little while before she is able to move her finger. When she does that she then hears someone say 

"She moved! Her eyes are open!" 

Four people came into view. Luke, Mari, Dylan, and Aurora. 

Light illuminating around them.
