The Journey Begins (Spoilers)

(Spoilers by the time this chapter is published)

Alan is standing outside his home with Scorbunny by his side. Alan sighs and Scorbunny looks up at Alan.
Scorbunny: Scor?
Alan looks down and smiles.
Alan: I'm alright. Just, preparing for the inevitable.
Scorbunny jumps up onto Alan's back and Alan smiles and pets Scorbunny's head.
Alan: *sighs* Alright, let's head in.
Alan opens the door and sees his mom sitting in a chair reading.
Alan: I'm home.
Alan's mom lookd up and sees her son. She sets her book down and smiles.
Mom: Hello dear. How was the trip?
Alan: It was pretty good. The professor gave me my Pokemon.
Mom: Oh really? Who did you choose?
Scorbunny jumps into the air and lands infront of Alan's mom. Alan's mom jumps a little but smiles.
Mom: Awww, it's so cute.
Alan's mom picks up Scorbunny and starts petting it, at first making Scorbunny uncomfortable but then Scorbunny relaxes.
Mom: So, what now?
Alan: I'll be leaving tomorrow morning. Thought I introduce you to Scorbunny before me and Hop leave on our journey.
Mom: Are you sure you want to go?
Alan: *sighs* Here we go again.
Mom: I'm just saying, you don't have to go. No one will think less of you Alan.
Alan: That's the thing Mom, people already think less of me. I need to do this, I need to prove myself. I need you to believe I can do this.
Mom: Alan... I do believe you can do this, I'm just worried is all. You're going to be all by yourself.
Alan: I won't be alone Mom.
Scorbunny leaps out of Alan's mom's lap and lands on Alan's shoulder.
Alan: I got Scorbunny. And Hop will be with me.
Mom: *sighs* I know.
Alan grabs his mom's hand.
Alan: Mom, I'll be ok. Just watch as I make it to the finals.
Alan's mom smiles.
Mom: I will.
Alan smiles and Scorbunny jumps off of Alan and starts hopping with glee. Alan's mom gets up.
Mom: Come on, let's make some dinner. It'll be the last decent meal you'll eat in a while.
Alan: Heh, ok. Come on Scorbunny.
Alan and Scorbunny follow Alan's mom into the kitchen to go eat a meal.

(The next day)

Alan's mom walks into Alan's room to see Alan packing up stuff into a huge backpack while Scorbunny is hopping on the bed with impatience.
Alan: *chuckles* I get Scorbunny, you're excited to get out there too. Just wait a moment.
Scorbunny: Scor!!
Scorbunny plops on the bed and sighs anxiously.
Mom: Wow. I haven't seen that bag in years.
Alan looks up and sees his mom walk in.
Alan: Found it a month ago. It just felt right to use Dad's old bag on my journey.
Mom: He'd be so proud of you.
Alan: Thanks mom.
Alan's mom walks over to Alan and hugs him. Alan hugs back.
Mom: I'm going to miss you.
Alan: I know Mom. Me too.
Alan's mom let's go.
Mom: You be careful alright?
Alan: I will.
Alan grabs his bag and puts it on. Scorbunny smiles and hops onto the bag. Alan smiles and the two head towards the door.
Mom: You two take care!!!
Alan: We will!!!
Scorbunny: Scor!!! Scorbunny!!!
The two then leave the house, and Alan's mom realising that it'll be a long time until she'll properly see her son again.

(Outside the Nordwick House)

Alan steps outside and stops. He looks back at his house and smiles. Alan then turns to Scorbunny.
Alan: You ready buddy?
Scorbunny: Scor!!!
Scorbunny stands atop of the bag in a victory like pose. Alan chuckles.
Alan: You're going to be a bundle of joy Scorbunny.
Hop: ALAN!!!
Alan turns to see Hop, now wearing a bag.
Alan: Hey Hop, you ready?
Hop: Of course I am. See Scorbunny is too.
Scorbunny brings his fist into the air with excitement and deternination on it's face. Hop chuckles.
Hop: Oh by the way, my brother's here.
Alan: Leon? Here? Thought it wasn't till next month?
Hop: I guess he decided to surprise me and mum. He's in town right now.
Alan: Guess we better go see him then?
Hop: Yep, so let's-
???: WOOOOOOO!!!!
Suddenly, a white puffy ball comes rolling towards the two trainers.
Hop: LOOK OUT!!!
Hop pushes Alan and Scorbunny to the side as the ball rams into a fence. The ball breaks the fence and then starts rolling into a dark and ominous forest.
Hop: That was a Wooloo right?
Alan: Yeah, and I think it just tumbled into the Slumbering Weald.
Hop: We got to go help it.
Alan: But the Weald is off limits remember?
Hop: I know that, but what if it gets hurt Alan?
Alan: *sighs* I guess we have no choice. Ready Scorbunny?
Scorbunny: Scorbunny!!!
Scorbunny nods, the flame of battle fills it's eyes. Alan shakes his head. Hop pulls out a Pokeball.
Hop: Let's go Grookey!!
Grookey is released from the Pokeball and climbs up onto Hop's shoulder.
Hop: You ready buddy?
Grookey: Groo groo!!!
Grookey nods. The two trainers look at each other and nod. The two enter the forest to go and find the Wooloo.
