i hesitantly type in my birthname
she looks at me

i feel my the blood drain from my face and my breath catch in my throat

i stumble over my words
she puts her hand on my shoulder "isnt your name alex hun"
i start to shake "nnnot yet ...can you keep a secret ?"
she looks at me confused "yeah why?"
i look down and try to make the words come out all i can say is
"well i wasnt born alex i uh "
i start to tear up
"youre...Trans?" she says in a quiet tone
I nod and wipe my eyes
"i i .. i gotta go im sorry " i start to get up when she grabs my hand
"wait why no dont go "she stands up and hugs me
i stand there in shock

i wrap my arms around her waist and speak quietly "i didnt want anyone to know thats why i moved here last town i lived in the people at my school...once things got physical my mom agreed to move us somewhere else"
she hugs me tighter
i feel safe in her arms
she pulls away and cups my cheek "i wont tell anyone you can trust me "
i nod and watch her lips as she talks to me
she rubs her thumb across my cheek and looks into my eyes
