When we landed it was 9pm. Shon slept the entire plane ride after our mile high experience which I figured she would. She had to have been up for over 24hrs so I know she was exhausted. I almost didn't want to wake her but I had to.
"Wake up Princess" I sang to her while nudging my nose on her cheek lightly. She moved slowly and let out a soft groan.
"Come on baby wake up....We're home"
She slowly opened her eyes and looked around. As she rubbed her face and began to sit up, I kissed her cheek and handed her a glass of water.
"Ready to go?" I asked. She nodded and proceeded to gather our things.
Once we got off the plane, there were two black trucks waiting for us. I had called ahead and made sure some of my young niggas would pick us up. Ronnie and the crew hopped in one and Steelo, the girls and I hopped in the other, with Princess and I in the middle.
She took out her phone as I did mine, and we both instantly had numerous missed calls and messages appear on our screens. My face grew weary as concern hit me like a ton of bricks. I looked over at Shon and her face was pale, like she saw a ghost.
"What is it Shon?" Lauren asked from over her shoulder. She didn't respond.
"Yo take us to Ace crib right now!" I shouted. As I looked back at Princess I could see her struggling to breath.
"Hey...HEY!...Look at me Ma....Take a deep breath....Come on Shonnie breathe baby!" I coached.
She couldn't even hear me. Her body frozen as she looked right through me.
"Bro what the fuck is going on?" Steelo asked me. I ignored him also, trying to focus on Princess.
"Get us to the fucking house NOW!" I shouted again.
Steelo and Luaren looked confused and tried to get us to speak, but neither one of us could. I tried to take Ashante's hand and her skin felt cold as ice.
Shortly after we pulled up to the house. Lauren and Steelo automatically got their questions answered. Before the driver could even hit the breaks, Princess hopped out and started to run to her house, fully engulfed in flames.
"Nooooo!" she screamed at the top of her lungs as she ran full speed.
There were fire trucks all over the block and neighbors looking on from their porches. Water sprayed everywhere as they tried to put the fire out. Before she got too close I was able to grab Princess and pull her back into my arms. She almost collapsed to the ground watching everything burn down.
"Baby...No!....No, no, no!....Don't baby!" I tried to console her but she was lost. She grew quiet and looked like she was in a daze. As she fell to her knees, I tried to look around and get some information about what the hell happened.
"Stay with her!" I yelled to Steelo.
"I got you bro!" he responded shook. Lauren started to cry and got down next to Ashante, holding onto her. I found one of the firefighters standing next to an ambulance, going through a check list, and I stopped him.
"Excuse me!" I said, trying to get his attention.
"Sir!...You can't be here...We need all pedestrians behind the yellow line there!"
"This is my wife's house...Can you please let me know what happened?" I said, cutting him off.
He sighed heavily and pulled me aside.
