“Oh my god! Alex what happened?” Clarisse says jumping off her bed and running up wrapping me in a hug. She pulls back looking at me. I probably looked like a mess my hair in tangles, covered in dirt, and half my face dripping in blood from my cut from the shards of ice. At least that is what I felt like.
“Stef and I… kind of got into a fight…” I say quietly. Her eyes widen.
“Stef did this…He hurt you!?” I nodded slowly.
“That fucking ass!” She says frustrated. My eyes then widen. Clarisse doesn’t swear often. You have to make her really mad for her to swear.
“Clarisse I’m fine…” I say slowly.
“Where is he?” She ask continuing her rant. I grabbed a brush from my bag and pulled it through my hair.
“The infirmary.”
“The infirmary?” I nodded.
“Yeah… He grabbed me from me behind and wouldn’t let me go so I screamed… fire waved around me and he got burned as well as thrown away from me.” I say.
“Are you okay?” She asks, I shake my head pulling my hair painfully with the brush.
“Like I said before I am fine.” She sighs sitting on the window seat next to me. I eventually get the brush to go through my hair finely. The soft auburn red curls now unknotted.
We sat there in mindless chatter of nonsense. After a while Clarisse got a text and had to leave. I went to the bathroom and got cleaned up. I looked at myself in the mirror gently touching the scratch on my cheek. It didn’t look as bad once the blood was gone.
The bruises were worse though. I still had the small bruises around my wrists from the chains in the prison at the earth school. I had new bruises around my waist on the sides. I swore, they say I have so much power yet I am still fragile. I heard a door open and close, I quickly pulled my shirt back down. I gathered all my stuff and jammed it into my string bag.
I swing it over my shoulder and end up bumping into that one girl who was glaring at me on the roof Nadia. She pushes me against the wall. “Watch were you’re going.” She growls and scoffs walking past me. I gripped my string bag to keep from saying anything and kept on walking.
I left the bathroom and dropped my bag off at the room. I didn’t know where to go but, I did know I didn’t want to be stuck in the bedroom all day. I left to wonder the halls. I saw my brother walking in my direction his nose in a book again.
I walk the opposite direction hoping to get away from him. Someone grabbed my arm as soon as I turned around. Taylor stood there a firm grip on my arm reading the last few paragraphs in his book. He closes it and tucks the book under his arm. He looks up at me. “Hey…” he says. I struggle and tried to pulls from his grip but, he wouldn’t let me go.
I glared at him. “Let me go.”
“If I do will you run?” he asks.
"Maybe.” I say and clenched my fist my nails digging in my own skin.
“Then I won’t let you go.” He says calmly.
“What do you want?” I ask and he sighs. I sit there patiently trying not to let my anger get the best of me and set the school on fire. I would love to send him flying across the wall like I did Stef…
“What happened at the garden?” He asks. I shook my head not understanding.
“I need to know who is responsible for the damages and who started the fight in the first place.” I rolled my eyes.
