I need to try to figure this mess out, before I hurt someone that I actually cared about.

Another thought crossed my mind and I looked up over to Colby.

"What about us?"

His eyebrows furrowed. "What do you mean?"

"Well, you can't be with a witch right? It's against vampire law or whatever that stupid shit is. They know about us, so what do we do?"

He shook his head at me and squeezed me to his chest, kissing the top of my head. "I don't think that matters now. Since they want to try an alliance with the witches...it shouldn't be a problem."

"Huh." I replied, kind of awe struck.

How does everything fix itself because I decided to go crazy psycho witch?

"Don't worry about it. We'll figure it out. Seems like everything is falling into place for us."

I nodded and looked around at the group. "Wait, where's Devyn?" I asked, just now realizing that she wasn't in the room with us.

"Oh, she got a little...agitated so she's back in her room. She's okay though." Corey replied.

I looked down into my lap and started picking at the skin around my fingernails.

"Did I...hurt any of you?" I asked hesitantly.

They all looked fine now, but I needed to know.

Jake laughed.

"You knocked us all on our asses but I think we're good. Maybe a few bruised egos from a witch taking us down so easily."

I cut my eyes to his, and narrowed them. "Watch it. This witch will take you down again."

He held both hands up then ducked behind Tara. This was actually hilarious and brought a smile to my face. Jake's tall ass, stooping as low as he could to hide behind Tara's tiny self.

It wasn't working very well. I folded my lips inside my mouth trying to hold in my laugh, but when he poked his head out over her shoulder, I lost it. I snorted when the laugh burst out of my mouth, then threw my hand over my mouth in surprise.

Apparently, the rest of the gang thought that was hilarious and started laughing at me. Kevin even went as far as making pig sounds, causing the other guys to join in. We were all gasping for breath, with Kat and I wiping our eyes after a few minutes.

I had went from sobbing over being a murderer to laughing my ass off with my family in a matter of minutes. They could always make me feel better...and I would do what I did all over again, if it meant protecting them. I would always make that choice.

Colby's phone rang just then. He stood up, pulling his phone from his pocket. He looked at the screen, then to me.

"I'll be right back." He said, leaning down to kiss my cheek, before walking out the door, putting the phone to his ear.

I couldn't imagine who would be calling him, but I didn't have to dwell on it before Kat plopped down beside me on the bed.

"So how does it feel to be an all powerful witch?" She asked, grinning at me. "I'm kind of jealous."

I laughed. "Don't be. It's kind of cool, but also scary as hell. I should probably start doing lessons with Melanie...soon."

Kat placed her hand on my shoulder and squeezed gently. "You'll be fine. I think you're gonna be a fast learner."

I blushed and shrugged. "Maybe. I hope so. That feeling is overwhelming."

Everyone started small talk, joking on how I was able to beat everyone's ass, and how they weren't going to mess with me anymore. We were all laughing when Colby walked back into the room. I glanced up to see him staring down at his phone, his brows furrowed while he chewed his bottom lip.

"What's up baby?" I asked, not sure if I should be worried or not.

"Huh?" He asked, looking up to meet my eyes. "Oh...um, that was Victoria."

I raised my eyebrow at him. "Who?"

"She's on the Council. One of the two that wouldn't fight against us. She's always been one of the more...understanding ones. Victoria is- was- second in command on the Council. I guess she's first now. Huh." He looked up, letting his gaze go from one friend to the next.

"Well?" Sam asked, motioning his hand to make Colby hurry up and tell us what she wanted.

"She...she wanted to offer me and Sam a seat on the Council. To help put things back in order and to make it easier to form an alliance with the witches." He looked back down to his phone, not meeting anyone's eyes.

The room was quiet, no one speaking for a moment.

"What does that mean for the clan? If you take it?"

Colby shrugged. "I don't think we have a choice. We basically killed them all. If we just up and refuse this after doing that...the other Council chains aren't happy with us already, even though they get that Hillmond was corrupt." He sat down next to me, and put his head in his hands. "I don't know what to do with this. I told her that I would call her back. She didn't sound happy but agreed." He looked up, meeting Sam's eyes. "What do we do brother? What about the clan?"

Sam pinched his bottom lip in between his pointer finger and thumb for a moment, before replying. "Like you said, I don't think we have a choice. We can ask for stipulations however. Conditions." He shrugged. "May not work, but we can try."

"Like what?" Colby asked.

"Like we get to stay in the Trap House and have this part of the clan as our guard. We can choose a leader to watch over the rest of the clan and communicate with the Council...or with us, I guess. That's gonna take some getting used to."

Colby nodded. "Okay, that sounds good. Maybe she'll go for that. There's no rule that says we have to go live somewhere else. They don't live in that place, they only commute there for the chambers. It's just for their monthly congregations and then court."
