A Different Fate The Daughter of Batman

Gotham?

I Do not own Batman, Robin or DC characters.

"Anna it's a big promotion," my father says.

"Yes, but it's Gotham," mom says. "The place just isn't safe. Between the corruption and the gangs..."

"We won't be living in Gotham, I'll just be working there. You and the kids can even stay here. Bruce Wayne just donated such a large amount to Gotham schools. You could even quit that stuck up school and really help kids," dad says.

Well I don't hear the rest of the argument because I step in as Peter and Alexa walk up.

"Hey bozu," my big brother says ruffling my hair.

"Heh Itzy Bitsy," Alexa says hugging me and kissing my cheek.

Timeskip

That was one of the last really happy breakfasts I had with my whole family. Mom and Dad started arguing more and more. Eventually he does accept the job after Gordon becomes Police Commissioner and makes Dad a Captain. Mom begrudgingly accepts the move but keeps us outside of Gotham. Mom accepts a position at Gotham Prep as the Assistant Headmistress.

By second grade I'm a student at Gotham Prep. Kind of a side effect of the nanos in my brain; I was able to keep all of my knowledge. Well that and my mom insists that we all attend due to the security. I try psychically calling out to Brainy but I guess time is out of sync with the change in timelines. I do my best to focus on my martial arts and school in the meantime.

I watch the rise of Batman and do my best to constantly hide my family. Of course this is a bit tricky when Bruce Wayne is a supporter of the school and the school's martial arts program. I face Dick a few times in the ring and can tell we are both holding back.

I know who they are thanks to my future knowledge but I would have figured out anyway, eventually.  I like most kids, miss my few friends back home but I was the crazy ninja girl there. In Gotham I wind up making friends with Dick and Barbara. Dick and I wind up friends because we both are really the only ones who can give each other a challenge.  Barbara and I become friends by virtue of being cop kids. Well that and I kind of have a crush on her even at this age.

I like them both I just hope I don't wind up becoming too much like Dick some nights. Oto does his best to get us out to train on the weekends and winds up setting a small training room by Alexa agreeing to sharing a room with me. Grandma May stays over frequently to babysit and to keep Peter from sneaking out to spend time with his boyfriend. Not that they have a problem with him being gay it's just safety.

Timeskip

It's my Christmas of my fifth grade year. Mom and Dad are talking but things aren't as happy. We have moments but Peter is in heartbreak mode as his boyfriend dumped him for being a 'pyro freak'.

His boyfriend and him had a near-miss with one of Firefly's incendiary charges. Peter had jumped in as a shield using his power to disperse the heat. This had caused a rift and I feel bad for him. He wanted to tell his boyfriend and I would have supported him but the rest of the family wasn't so willing.

Alexa was busy freaking out about finals and her future. She had been flipping between shutin nerd mode and nature survival girl. I was really worried. Mom was busy because she had been named Headmistress.

Oto has gone off on a mission last year and only returned a few days ago. When he left he had given me the coin and I held it close everyday. I kept it buried under my clothes and never let anyone see it. I got up one night for water when I heard the conversation I had been dreading and preparing for.

"Damn it Oto I don't think we can avoid this vision anymore. I even accepted this position in Gotham to get us away from the building I saw in my visions the first time," Dad says and I stop.

"What?!" I think

"I know Simon, I can't believe I even tried bargaining with Al' Ghul," Oto said his voice quiet but still thick with self-loathing.

"You what?!" Dad whisper yells.

"Listen they won't get the kids as long as I have breath and I have taken steps in case," Oto says and even I feel the premonition. "Itsuka is able to hide all of them now. You know she is going to slip in with you either way."

He wasn't wrong I am going to protect my family and save my dad.

"Damnit Oto that's not the point. I am her father, I am a cop. I have to protect my family," Dad says as he bangs the counter.

I hold in an eap and instead stumble in quickly. I rub my eyes and blink. I make like I'm spinning a kunai but stop myself.

"Who, who is attacking," I mutter.

"No one Itzubozu," Oto says with a smile. "Come on sleepwalker that's enough drunkenmaster."

They share a look over my head, I think. As they walk me to my small bed I curl under the covers and hold my coin. As Oto tucks me in he kisses my head.

"Trust Bat Wayne," he whispers low enough that Dad can't hear.

I look at him and he nods.

Timeskip

Well the Christmas Day it happens. Dad took us out for a movie and it happens just down the street. Dad curses loudly in a string of Japanese, Chinese and German that has so many people turning towards us, I bubble. Peter stumbles forward and grabs me.

"Calm down Leah," he says pulling me up like I had just fallen.

He looks at me and knows I know something. He pulls me in close, "You picked up on one of Dad's visions right?"

I nod.

"Ok, stick close to Dad. I'll protect Mom and Alexa," he says and I see the man I knew my big brother grew to be.

3rd person POV

As the police captain heads to the street and calls a cab a small figure slips through the crowd. Moving swiftly the girl slips into the car unseen. The traffic to the command post is terrible. When they get to the command station the man is all business.

"What's the situation," he asks walking to the Sargent in charge.

"Sir, They keep making demands to speak to a man in charge in broken English or speaking in Russian. We think there is about 20 of them but we aren't sure," the Sargent says snapping to attention.

"Fine let me talk to them," Captain Lee says.

They call in and a woman answers in Romanian, "Hello Amant, I have been expecting your call. How is the little ahren?"

The captain froze. Standing there in his warm tan trench coat, his square jaw framed his hazel eyes. A faint X marked his right jaw. His balding head was shining from a sweat.

"This is Captain Simon Lee of Gotham PD," Captain Simon Lee responds and curses himself for not expecting Talia after Oto went to talk with the League.

"Well I guess I have at least one of Gotham's Guardian Angels here, oh and I suspect a Dark One will be here soon. The interested party will only meet with you Captain Lee Face to Face," the woman responds in Russian.

"Well have them release the hostages and we will make an appointment after the holidays," he responds.

"I'll tell you what you come in and I will release all of them," she replies. "In fact I send some out right now as a gesture."
