In a cabin in the woods, Tony walked up to the bank of lake where a tiny shed sat.
"Chow time!" Tony called, got no answer, then called back, "Morgan? Morgan H. Stark. Want some lunch?"
"Define lunch or be disintegrated," a little girl with a silver and blue helmet similar to Iron Man's.
The little girl, Morgan, Tony and Pepper's daughter, came out of the Tony shed. She's about 3-4 years of age.
"You should not be wearing that, okay? That is part of a special anniversary gift I'm making for Mom," Tony replied.
She took the helmet off Morgan's head, who smiled mischievously.
"Okay," Morgan answered.
"There you go. Are you thinking about lunch? Want a handful of crickets?" he asked her.
"No," she answered.
"That's what you want," Tony said then asked, referring to the helmet, "How did you find this?"
"Garage," Morgan answered.
"Really? Were you looking for it?" he asked.
"No. I found it though," she said.
"You like going to the garage, huh? So does daddy. It's fine, actually. Your mom never wears anything I buy her," Tony replied.
They headed toward the cabin when Tony saw a black Audi coming to a stop a few meters away. Steve, Y/N, Nat, and Scott came out, making Tony sigh.
After they explained the plan, Tony didn't look convinced.
"Now, we know what it sounds like..." Scott started.
"Tony, after everything you've seen, is anything really impossible?" Steve asked.
"It can't be with what Scott has told us," Y/N pointed out.
"Quantum fluctuation messes with the Planck scale, which then triggers the Deutsch proposition. Can we agree on that?" Tony replied.
Scott, Y/N, Steve, and Nat all looked puzzled. They didn't entirely understand.
"Thank you," Steve said.
"In Layman's terms, it means you're not coming home," Tony translated.
"I did," Scott pointed out.
"No, you accidentally survived. It's a billion to one cosmic fluke. And now you wanna pull off a...What do you call it?" Tony corrected.
"A time heist?" Scott guessed without trying to brag.
"Yeah, a time heist. Of course, why didn't we think of this before? Oh, because it's laughable? Because it's a pipedream?" Tony remarked.
"Tony, what we're trying to say is that we have found a way to bring the people who were snapped out of existence plus one before that back. After what we've been through, how can you say it's impossible?" Y/N said.
"Yeah. The stones are in the past. We can go back and get them," Scott added.
"We can snap our own fingers. We can bring everyone back," Natasha pointed out.
"Or screw it up worse than he already has, right?" Tony said.
"I don't believe we would," Steve stated.
"I don't either," Y/N replied.
"Gotta say, sometimes I miss that giddy optimism. However, high hopes won't help if there's no logical, tangible way for me to safely execute said time heist. I believe the most likely outcome would be our collective demise," Tony explained.
"Not if we strictly follow the rules of time travel. That means no talking to our past selves, no betting on sporting events—" Scott started.
"I'm gonna stop you right there, Scott. Are you seriously telling me that your plan to save the universe is based on Back To The Future?" Tony asked.
"No," Scott answered, a little embarrassed.
"Good. You had me worried there. 'Cause that'd be horse shit. That's not how quantum physics works," Tony remarked.
"Tony...We have to take a stand," Natasha told him.
"If we don't, we have to keep dealing with the loss for more than just five years," Y/N added.
"We did stand. And yet, here we are," Tony stated.
"I know you got a lot on the line. You got a wife, a daughter. But I lost someone very important to me. A lot of people did. And now, now we have a chance to bring her back. Bring everyone back. And you're telling me that won't even..." Scott explained.
"That's right, Scott, I won't. Even. Got a kid," Tony answered.
That's when Morgan came running to Tony and he picked her up.
"Mommy told me to come and save you," Morgan told him.
"Good job. I'm saved," Tony told her then said to the others, "I wish you'd come here to ask me something else. Anything else. Honestly, I...I missed you guys, it was...Oh, and table's set for six."
"Tony, I get it. And I'm happy for you, I really am. But this is a second chance," Steve pointed out.
"I got my second chance right here, Cap. I can't roll the dice again. If you don't talk shop, you can stay for lunch," Tony told them and took Morgan back into the house.
Cap, Y/N, Nat, and Scott walked back to their car.
"He's scared," Natasha said.
"He's not wrong," Steve pointed out.
"Yeah, but I mean, what are we gonna do? We need him. What, are we gonna stop?" Scott asked.
"No, we wanna do it right. We're gonna need a really big brain," Y/N said.
"Bigger than his?" Scott exclaimed dramatically, pointing back to the cabin.
