Katie's POV
I felt as if I was floating. I can hear a bridal song faintly. It grows louder by the second.
I look around me and see a beautiful big door. I was wearing a beautiful white dress and veil. I open the doors and slowly walk down a long red carpet.
Riley is standing at the end of it wearing a handsome tuxedo. When I get to the end of the carpet, he was already there to greet me with a warm smile.
The world stops as we look into each other's eyes. I've known this man since I was 5 years old. He was my best friend and boyfriend since the 7th grade.
I had always dreamed of growing old with him. I had believed the doctors would cure me.
When the doctor told me I was going to die that day I fell down the stairs, I was heartbroken.
"I do," he says with the most loving face. "I do," I say. Then, everything slowly fades to white.
I slowly open my eyes and see him. My Riley. He was laying on the chairs beside the hospital bed I was in. He was sleeping soundly.
I look around me slowly and see the machines and wires they have me hooked to. "Katie?!"
He rushes over to me with tears in his eyes. I had never seen him cry until I told him about my disease. Even when we were kids, he never cried around me.
He would always stand up for me and be my knight in shining armor.
He looked so pained now. He usually looked so tall and strong, but now he looked so small and helpless.
"I'm sorry," I mutter weakly. He rests his forehead against mine. "Me, too. I shouldn't have walked out on you like that. I love you so much and I promise to make sure you live these last days to the fullest."
Tears of happiness stream down my face and Riley wipes away every single one of them. What did I do to deserve him?
I look over towards the windows and see that it's almost dark outside. "When will I be able to get out?"
"The doctors said you should be able to leave by tomorrow. I'm not going to let you do anything reckless, just in case you seize again." I roll my eyes.
Riley has always been so protective.
