"It is a beautiful sight. I could see why your parents bought the lake house." He said standing beside me.
"Why didn't they tell me?" I asked staring into the lake.
"Because she knew you were the only one who could attend the school and handle the smell of blood. And she needed to protect you. She knew it meant risking her families life, but they all knew this day was coming since the day you were born."
"Who were those men Kaien?" I asked looking up at him.
"I don't know yet. But Kelsey. I swear on your parents grave that we will find their killers."
"I thank you for taking me in Kaien. I have no one else to go to. My friends are dead as well so..."
"I know, but we have to move on. Live on for them Kelsey. That's what your family needs you to do. That's why they risked their lives for you. Kelsey?"
He looked over at me and saw that I was crying while my eyes were closed. He put his hand on my shoulder then hugged me. I hugged him back. I didn't care if he pissed me off or that I didn't know him. I just needed somebody to cry on.
The man with the eyepatch walked over to us.
"Kaien we need to go." He said. Then he saw me in Kaien's arms crying. He blushed a little then walked back to the house cursing about something that was hard to hear.
I wiped my tears away then walked back to the house with Kaien.
I went to the room packed my things then grabbed the papers and left to the kitchen. I drank one more glass of the blood tablets then headed outside with my suitcase. I still had Shawn's engagement ring on my ring finger. I put on the necklace mom told me to wear then took one more glance at the lake house I had grown up in.
'I'm leaving it forever.' I thought.
"Oh. By the way the man that came with me is Toga Yagari. He's also a vampire hunter."
"You guys are vampire hunters?"
"Yeah. You got a problem with it?"
"No. I was about to say that that was pretty awesome, but then you interrupted me." I said balling my fists.
"What's your problem! Do you have something against teenage girls or something?!" I yelled.
"No. I just don't like sassy ass vampires!" He yelled back.
"Both of you stop it! We're almost there." Kaien said giving us the 'shut up and keep quiet or your both gonna get it' look.
We both kept quiet.
I stopped right in my tracks. I smelled something familiar. I looked around. There was nobody around except the three of us.
"What's wrong Kelsey?" Kaien asked as he walked over to me.
"Don't move."
I pushed Toga out of the way because a level E vampire jumped out and almost hit him.
"What the hell!" He said crashing to the floor.
"Stay out of the way!" I commanded.
I pulled out a dagger. My dad gave it to me on my thirteenth birthday. I always carried it with me.
"DIIIEEEE!!!!!" The level E howled.
I threw the dagger and it hit it right in the heart. It became dust and blew away in the wind.
"Well done Kelsey." Kaien said handing me my dagger.
"Yeah. Well done my ass." Toga mumbled.
"I heard that!" I said picking up my suitcase.
