CHAPTER THIRTEEN | THE POINT OF NO RETURN

I inject myself with morphine as I try to ignore the pain and force myself to heal because my doctor has left me alone in the path he promised to share. ―Unsent Letters by Haku

"Is it true?" Sachiyo gritted her teeth in anger as she heard the hushed whispers of her fellow students while walking down the hall, "Nakiri Azami's our new headmaster."

She thought that her anger would fade away after a good night's rest but it seems she was wrong as her footsteps remained heavy with the glint in her eyes parting the student body in fear. Frankly, she doesn't care about Totsuki. However, Nakiri Azami in her vicinity and the bravery of the nine seats to hide substantial information from her made her wrath ignite and burn every thread of her sanity. There's also the fact that Nakiri Azami is now in the way of her plans and she had to do extra work because of him.

"Senpai!" Satoshi chased after the female who only hastened her speed at the familiar voice.

"What do you want, Satoshi? Are you planning to tell me the truth now? Lovely. I'd like to hear it."

"He threatened me―"

The female hissed as her fury boiled further, "and now I'm going to threaten you. Approach me one more time and I'll cut your tongue off."

She paused, played with her words before smiling darkly, "you should've feared me more. You should've feared me who would not hesitate to let you rot over someone who's still mulling over it."

Satoshi froze in shock and fear as the female went off with the clicking of her heels echoing in his mind and becoming his greatest nightmare.

"Let me begin by saying that I am honored to be the one to take over Totsuki's reins," Sachiyo rolled her eyes as she crossed her legs inside her office. She made it clear she wasn't moving an inch near Azami's appointment ceremony but he seemed to enjoy testing her patience as he maxed out the volume so the speech was heard all over the campus.

"I will set this Academy forward a better path," Azami smiled kindly but his eyes remained cold and distant, "I ask for your support and cooperation."

"A day will come when we will no longer taste disgust but rather live in a world of true gourmet."

Truth be told, Sachiyo wouldn't mind his rule so much if it's truly just about true gourmet. Frankly, she was tired of eating trash as well but her business would surely suffer since her clients are highly in the disgusting part of the culinary world. Aside from that, he shares the same mentality as her beloved relatives and that only infuriated her. One would argue that she wants to do the same either way but no. She didn't want to eradicate the Nakiri's. She wanted to be number one. With a sigh, she leaned back in her chair.

Regret was eating her up. Satoshi was a good person. One she could consider as someone she can trust even if they only met recently. Her words were harsh and uncalled for but it was also very her. She was no saint and staying with someone like her means dealing with her superiority complex and horrible attitude. Maybe it was for the better. People like Satoshi who despite having questionable methods, mean to always do what is right aren't supposed to be tainted by her who have no morals when it comes to what will be the best choice in the situation.

Anyways, it's not like she'll ever apologize. Her pride is way too high for that.

A knock made her jump in surprise as she was snapped out of her trance. With a sigh, she called out for whoever is outside and saw that it was Polar Star first years. With a small smile, she mentioned to the couch and watched as they all settled uncomfortably. If she were to guess, Soma probably told them the events a few days ago while Satoshi asked them to ask about her well-being.
