A Good Liar

Chapter 2

Last Visit

The sun rises and shows its glimmering rays of light. Kanao, who was supposed to remain asleep, woke up due to the sun's heat. It has been a week since her fiancee, Tanjirou, got lost. Or was being taken away rather. The past week was uneventful for her and she would always cry or feel sad every time.

She looked over to the ripped cloth of Tanjirou's haori, which was placed on her table. She grabbed the piece and hugged it again. The cloth would always gets wet by her tears. She missed him a lot. Even the others who cared for her, was getting more concerned about her.

She will probably not going to eat her meal once again. This is a common statement coming from Aoi, who was the most caring to Kanao. Inosuke, also helps Aoi since the couple had helped him a lot. He wanted to exchange their kindness back.

Kanao wasn't going out of her room either. She would stay inside for a whole day and go out at night. Or she would stay at Tanjirou's room to look for things Tanjirou owned.

After quite sometime, Giyuu Tomioka, who also felt more depressed, managed to convince Kanao to take meals and clean herself. Her room was a mess but no one blame nor scolded her. She was hurting so no one dared making her feel bad even more.

Everyone knew, Kanao gives a terrifying aura when someone mentions about Tanjirou's current condition even if it was her friends and other members. She would get pissed immediately because she cared about him. She love him very much and she doesn't want anyone to interfere with her.

Indeed, she changed a lot. That's because of Tanjirou. Tanjirou helped her get out of her empty shell and became more social. But she went back to her shell once again and got more emotional.

The only one she could talk and seeks advice right now is Shinobu. But she was already deceased, she cannot find someone to replace her other than Tanjirou.

Kanao felt a familiar presence coming to her room. Who wanted to give a meal for her.

"Kanao, I insist for you to eat this meal. We both are depressed because of what happened a week ago. But you need to eat in order to became strong for him. He wanted you to be strong all the time, am I right? Then eat this, this might gonna make you feel a bit better." Giyuu Tomioka said on the other side.

Kanao sighed, she knew she can't argue with a stubborn person like Giyuu. Both Giyuu and Tanjirou are indeed stubborn no matter what the issue is. She got out of her bed and opened the door for Giyuu. As always, Giyuu wears the standard butterfly estate uniform because he couldn't concentrate killing demons just yet. He wanted to feel good after the happenings. He cannot handle his fiancee's (Shinobu) death.

Actually, no one ever confirmed of Shinobu's death. During the great battle, she was heard being held captive by a demon but no one really knew about the entire detail. So Shinobu's death remained enigma, until now.

Kanao took the tray of meal Aoi made and went back to her bed. Giyuu excused himself probably going back to Shinobu's office. Kanao slowly ate her breakfast while staring blankly at the window. The garden of butterflies was visible on her vision, which reminded her all the time when she and Tanjirou would hang out during noon to play with the insects. But now, she just stayed quietly, staring at them.

She heard footsteps coming from the other side once again as the person said, "Lady Kanao, permission to enter?" Murata said.

Kanao stopped eating and said, "Come in."

Murata opened the door with fear. He knew Kanao became terrifying after Tanjirou was announced missing. But he's Tanjirou's friend, he needed information to help locate the latter. He changed as well after the news, instead of his oddly normal state, he got depressed and became serious all of a sudden. Which surprised everyone. But his fear with Pillars still remained.
