ALWAYS AND FOREVER

Chapter 26

Fenna

Everybody is ready before 7:00AM.

Dad and mum too insisted on coming with us to the office. They want to see how far we've gone.

Nolan is here already and we all board the car after exchanging greetings.

Vadim's hand is still bandaged but he's wearing a suit so no one can notice it.

Nolan hugs him like nothing happened and I can't help but chuckle inwardly.

Dad takes the front passenger seat as mum, Vadim's and I take the back seat.

The mood in the car is sombre with everyone making jokes about one or another thing. 

“Here we are...”
Nolan announces as he pulls over in the basement parking of the building where our office is.
We all free ourselves from the seatbelts as we step down.

He snakes his arm around my waist and we lead the way towards the lifts.

“Here we are...”

I announce as we step in the office. The receptionist is already in and several other workers, all buried in their desktops, already working.

I introduce my family to all of them then we get into our office.

They're all awed by how quick we've been able to establish it and are happy for us.

“It's time for me to leave. I'll be attending onto my other businesses...”

Nolan excuses himself.

“It's okay son. We'll catch up later..”
That's dad.

He bids all of us goodbye but I decide to see him off.
My main aim is to steal a kiss because I already miss it.

We take the escalator towards the parking because the lifts are delaying us.

His hands doesn't let go of my shoulders.
Once in the car, I take his face into my hands and our lips meet in a frenzy kiss. We've surely missed each other.

“So, when will I see you again?”

I ask him and he smiles before answering.

“How about going back to the house for a quickie? That way we'll stop missing each other!”

“Stop it already... I've people waiting for me in the office...”

I say, pinching his nose playfully.

“I was just kidding honey. See your face! Just go back to them. I'll pick you up later and take you to see my other businesses!”

“Ahw! Thanks a lot dear. I'll be waiting!”

We kiss once more and I bid him goodbye as I head back to the office.

I'm busy showing my folks allover the office and how I operate when a call comes through from the receptionist.

She informs me that there's a client waiting for me and I ask her to direct him to my office.

A minute later, the door is knocked and I tell the one knocking to get it.

The face in front of us seems familiar and I chuckle after recognising him.

“Robin?”

It's more of a question.

“Fenna!”

He calls me back as I show him where to sit.

“I didn't know you own this office!”

He acknowledges my family with a nod and dad smiles after recognising him.

“Aren't you Robin Calvin?”
Dad asks him.

“Yes sir, we also met during your mother's burial!”

“Oh! I remember you now. Your family is my Granny's neighbour!”

Vadim chips in.
He has been exceptionally happy today.

We chat a lot about home till Robinson tells me why he has visited.

“I got a referral from Jubilee investments. I've a business deal to propose...”

“Jubilee? Didn't you mention that name sometimes back?”

“Yes Fenna...I'm sorry I had confused your business partner with someone else!”

“Oh. It's okay. Let's  get down to business...”

Minutes later, the deal is sealed and Robin is about to leave. My family to excuses themselves citing that they want to go to the mall and wander around the city.

They're impressed with my efforts and they wish me all the best, both in business and in life.

We share the same sentiments. I'm happier than them.

They leave after promising to meet me at home in the evening.

Robin hesitates a little bit then turns to me.

“Fenna, can I take you out for lunch?”

His question somehow startles me but I smile inwardly.

“Maybe another day....I'm quite busy today. As you can see, my business partner is away..”
I reply. I don't want to turn him down immediately.

“It's okay dear. You'll give me a call. I hope you still have my number..”

“Yes I do...”
I reply, knowing well that I'll extract it from the contract agreement we've just signed.

We say our goodbyes then he leaves.

The day drags on slowly.

Lunch hour is here and I'm about to step out when a call comes through from Nolan.

My heart leaps in joy after seeing his name displayed on the screen.

I receive it and his happy voice fills my eager ears.

“Honey, I'm waiting for you at the parking...”

I don't even say anything. I drop the call and lock my office as I head out.
I give instructions here and there because I don't know how long the lunch date will last.

Nolan is meaning on his car, scrolling through his tablet.

When he sees me, he places it back in the car and opens his arms for me. I run to them gladly and as we entangle in a bear hug, I can't help but take in his cologne....
