Your pov

Returning my gaze onto Damon, I noticed he had trouble with a spell, even from far away, it was clear he needed help. Walking towards him, I looked over his shoulder- Ah, the classic Fire wall spell. But why would he be having trouble with this? "Gah! Could you not appear right behind me?" He asked me, turning around to face me.

"Hehe, sorry. Do you need help with this?" I asked, signaling towards the spell he was practicing. He looked away, nodding. "Hmm, if I remember correctly, fire wall is a level 4- A rank spell. You shouldn't have any problems summoning it." I said.

"It's not summoning that's the issue, I have trouble controlling it." He stated. The fire element was a hard element to control, contrary to popular belief, only level-headed mages could control fire magic. Hot-headed ones, become frustrated with their fire magic and end up being loose cannons, hurting themselves in the process.

"Then let's take this outside." I said, he sighed but followed along. Bringing a few interested students to witness our small lesson. "Now create a short fire wall in front of you." I instructed.

"Easy for you to say." He muttered, casting the spell it seemed like it was making a good amount of progress, when it started to grow in size. Starting to spread towards the other students and even to us.

"Emerald prism!" I shouted, capturing the flames inside a transparent green box. The flames soon disappeared, the box shattering. "Okay, I believe it's best to go back to the basics." I said, Damon stared at me in disbelief. "What? You obviously can't control your flames, so unless you can summon a stream of fire you can manipulate without much thought. You're not going to attempt such a destructive spell!" I stated, he huffed.

"Well, I would like to see you try! You're so adamant on faking your power, that all the tests you've done don't show how powerful you are." he stated. Sighing, I pronounced the words- "Fire Wall, power level 4, rank A." In front of my hand, a small flame ignited out of thin air. It then grew in size, creating a moving wall of fire that disappeared into a puff of smoke.

"If you want to practice fire wall, then change the rank and power level down a notch. It won't have any effects, but it makes good practice. Since Fire wall is a rank A exclusive spell, lowering it's rank will remove all of its effects." I explained, seeing Damon glaring at me. Those who were watching us, gawked at my ability to summon A rank spells. They weren't hard for me, but they weren't easy either. "Fire wall, power level 1, Rank B." I said, while a smaller, less intense wall of fire appeared. It disappeared due to it not being a spell for B ranks. "Like that." I said.

"Wait, you can still use A rank spells? I never questioned it before, but don't our badges stop us from using higher level magic. If let's say you were a D rank, you couldn't access your magic after being labeled a D rank." Damon pointed out, it never occurred to me that such a rule existed.

"But you also have to keep in mind that there's no badge for F ranks, there's nothing for F ranks. So I have no restrictions, and thus, I can tutor any rank." I commented. He sighed in defeat but listened to my advise. After summoning a few rank B fire walls, he then summoned another rank A fire walls. With perfect success. When he turned to thank me, I had already returned to my cave to sleep.

Not even a few minutes inside my room, my door swung open, Damon had followed me, asking me why I had left so abruptly. When he saw the state of my room he was speechless. Although I could only imagine the orderly, elegance of the A rank dormitories, he commented that my room looked nice. "I'm surprised to hear that a noble likes the state of a bandit's hideout." I teased. He became flustered, stating that he didn't see me as a bandit.

"Why do you not want to change your rank? You could easily be A or even S rank!" he expressed his concerns, that even though he acknowledged that my room was pretty. He was still stubborn about changing my rank.
