Hey guys.

So I'm here with a new one-shot. Shout out to my best friend Kasi for this cute idea. This is set in current day. Mariska comes home after a long day on set; it's freezing cold out and she's been pretty much on location all day. Peter surprises her with a little something from the early days of their relationship - a pillow fort. It's a fluffy little Petska one-shot!

Enjoy xoxo

Pillow Fort

The blistering cold seemed to always move into New York City a lot sooner than it did for other places. Blistering cold could be coped with if one was able to stay inside the warmth of a room or home for hours at a time, only venturing out when necessary. However, the blistering cold was a force to be reckoned with and one that could cause intense agony when a person had to be outside for hours at a time, running up and down the streets, filming scenes for a long running police procedural.

Mariska shivered in the back of the chauffer driven SUV once the doors closed. Night had fallen over the city; she had pretty much been filming scenes outside on location for at least ten of the fourteen hours she had been on set for Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Now, she was finally in the car, on her way home. The day had been successful, a wonderful end to a long week of filming and directing. The only problem was the cold, and Mariska was absolutely freezing. She was glad to be finally on her way home because truthfully, she couldn't wait to cuddle up with her husband. It was Friday and the kids were gone up to Connecticut for the weekend to spend it with Peter's sister and her family, and so it would just be her and Peter for the weekend.

She made it home in a decent amount of time – and actually managed to stop shivering by the time she arrived there as the heat of the SUV had warmed her up a bit. She bid farewell to their longtime friend and chauffer, James, before slipping out of the vehicle and heading inside. Once inside, she locked up the house before looking around as she wondered why it was so quiet.

"Peter!" she called out. She hung up her bag and coat, only to raise an eyebrow when she saw a note on the small table near the door, waiting for her. She picked it up and immediately smiled cutely at her husband's familiar scribble;

Come to our den area please. I have a surprise, my love. – KPH

She put the note down onto the table, then maneuvered her way through the house, her sock covered feet padding softly across the shining hardwood floors as she did so. She rounded the corner to her and Peter's secret den where they came to be alone sometimes, only to gasp when she caught sight of what he had done for them. Peter had managed to hang up a slew of their sheets and spare curtains, allowing them to hang from the ceiling and drape casually over the furniture in the room. In the middle of the floor within the little alcove beneath the sheets, was a few of their blankets piled onto the floor to create some cushion, and on top of the blankets was quite a few pillows. To make everything better, this little fort was in front of their fireplace, to which Peter had just stood up from as he smiled at her.

The smile wouldn't leave her face and tears had filled her eyes; this man was...everything.

"Hey you." He greeted as he made his way over to her. He wrapped his arms around her and greeted her with a loving kiss, and she giggled adorably as she draped an arm around his neck.

"Hi babe," she kissed him again before looking around; "What's all this?"

"It's me surprising you with something we haven't done since the early days of us," he kept his arm around her waist, while his other hand reached up to tuck some of her hair behind her ear; "So go upstairs and get changed into those comfortable pajamas I left out for you, and I'll be down here, waiting for you in our little pillow fort."
