This is part one of two parts...it's a short little fluffy Valentine's Day two shot! This first part centers around Peter and Mariska's first official Valentine's Day together in February of 2003 - about nine months after they started dating. Just a cute little thing!

A Song for Valentine's Day

PART ONE

February 2003.

Valentine's Day used to be a day where she would drink on her own after work and watch romantic movies while having ice cream. Everyone she knew or worked with had Valentines to attend to, but she hadn't had that luxury at the time. It was just a day to her and had been since her last relationship ended some years earlier.

And then, nine months ago, a date changed everything.

Nine months ago, she went on a date with the guy that had become her close friend since they'd met in November of 2001. He came onto the show as a recurring cast member; he played an arrogant, high priced mouth piece lawyer for the scum of the earth. Off camera, he was shy and warm and funny - an all around sweet guy with intellect and the most beautiful green eyes she had ever seen. He was tall with dark hair and muscles, and the kindest smile and warmest voice ever.

And now, he was all hers.

Mariska shook her head and smiled to herself as the car came to a stop in front of the building where they were filming. She slipped out of the car and headed inside, and she was almost instantly greeted by her co-star and best friend Chris, whom presented her with a box of chocolates and a rose.

"For my favorite partner." He winked. She took the box and rose into her hands while smirking at him.

"Steph and Tunie your favorite partners too?" She nodded her head at their two co-stars, whom were talking as they too held similar chocolates and a rose as well.

"Okay maybe I just felt like I should present you lovely ladies with a small gesture of love on this beautiful day," Chris nudged her as they walked down towards the dressing rooms; "Plans tonight with your lover boy?"

"Yes; I'm meeting him at his apartment for a surprise," Mariska replied as they rounded the corner; "Did you get those reservations to that place in Brooklyn?"

"By a complete miracle, I did; Sherm is gonna freak," Chris chuckled a bit; "I appreciate you suggesting that place to her; she dropped hints for the longest time afterwards."

"I just like to share my favorite foodie spots," Mariska pushed her dressing room door open and flicked the light on, only to gasp when she spotted the dozen roses and white teddy bear sitting on her dressing table; "Oh my God."

"Someone loves you, Mackie." Chris joked, leaning against the doorway with his arms folded. Mariska stuck her bottom lip out adorably as she put her bag aside along with the chocolates and the rose that Chris had greeted her with. She hugged the soft white teddy bear against her and got a gentle whiff of the roses before pulling the card from the pedals to read over it. She already knew who this was from, but the opened the small card anyway and read the note;

'Happy Valentine's Day beautiful. I hope these bring out that beautiful smile. See you tonight! - Peter xoxo'

The smile on her face couldn't have shown any brighter. She had never been treated as beautifully as she was treated by her boyfriend, Peter Hermann. He was a wonderful, amazing, kind hearted man with the most beautiful spirit and Mariska was head over heels for him. It was often that he'd surprise her with flowers and such anyway, but there was something about this sweet gesture on this day that made her heart swoon even more.
