To the teacher I lied to this morning,

I never wanted to lie to you, and in truth, what I was doing was not so bad, but it still felt wrong, as you studied over our screens that we had quickly switched to. "You two are my best students. You always listen to my directions." If only you could've known that we had not been reading and scanning over our textbooks, taking in as much information we could. Instead, we were playing a simple trivia game, laughing and joking. We had switched to the tabs in a panic as you walked towards us, and still left the trivia tab open. There were probably many, many other students who were behaving better than us, but we got the attention. I wonder if you saw the trivia tab and ignored it, or you knew the logo and understood it was trivia for charity. I'd be shocked it that were the case, but if so, thank you. I light a candle in hopes to protect you from the rest of the lying that goes around, and to add to your strength.

I'll try to read more,

A Silent Student.
