Harrys POV
The news of Justin and nearly headless nick was the new popular topic of the school. People were getting more and more nervous as the days past, an uprising in worried letters coming in on mail days from parents while teachers tried to figure out what could be so powerful to petrify a ghost. Of course I was the most logical reason for all of these events. It only made sense. I was in the perfect place at the perfect time, anyone who was thick would only think other wise.Days past as the weather grew colder and daylight leaving earlier, on its way to the start of a new season and holiday celebration. The stares, comments in the halls or blackmail didn't lessen either. It was a regular thing for students to sit on the other end of the classroom just to be away from me. Even some teachers flinched whenever I spoke. I was basically a monster.
"Bloody hell. At this rate we'll be the only ones left" Ron spoke through a mouthful of sausages. "Us, Crabbe, Goyle and Malfoy. What a jolly good holiday this will be" he slumped beside me, picking at her eggs.
Crabbe and Goyle, who were Draco's followers, had done the same as him and signed up to stay the holidays. I was happy everyone was leaving, it would give me time to relax and not have to worry about everything else wrong with this year. Though, Dean Thomas had also chosen to stay for Christmas and began to hang out more with y/n.
Usually this was nothing I would be concerned about, I knew she could take care of herself, that didn't bother me as much. What bothered me was how close they were getting and the fact that she was letting it happen.
How they would always hang out on the common room couch, laughing about something that happened that day or go and have a swim in the lake with each other, coming back to the castle soaked as the sun went down. Or how I would find them studying in the library, always at the back so no one could see them. It hurt my feelings for her. Really bad.
Fred and George found it funny though. Saying comments like "has your crush been crushed Harry?" Or "I saw dean and y/n kissing this morning, what's your thoughts on us setting them up?".
Ron was just a furious. Saying things along the line of how Dean was just there to charm girls and then leave them to mourn. He also wasn't a huge fan of the twins jokes. He made that pretty clear when George whispered one to the two of us, sending Ron into a yelling fit. It was tough but I was glad he was there for me, along with Hermione who fully agreed with us and had quite talking to y/n until she "got her senses back in order". It was comforting to know I wasn't the only one who thought this way of the two together.
Christmas had come fast along with a goodbye feast to all students and a alarming amount of quiet throughout the castle. It was just after lunch when Hermione had informed us that the polyjuice potion was perfectly bubbling and ready to be used.
"Are you sure?" Ron asked.
Hermione looked up from her potions book and gave him a dark glare. He turned red and went back to eating. "You're scary sometimes, you know that?" He murmured just loud enough for her to hear. The frown turned into a proud smirk as she looked up and smiled at us.
At this moment y/n and Dean had walked into the dining hall, smiling to each other as they past our section and went farther away to sit by themselves.
Ron snorted loudly enough to get y/n's attention, moving her glance from Dean to us. She gave a small wave and smile, hoping for one in return. Hermione did the opposite and gave a nasty eye roll while Ron followed, doing the same, both turning back to their sandwiches.
