Brooke woke to the sound of drawers slamming. She opened her eyes to be greeted with the sight of James standing at his dresser.
"What are you doing?" The girl asked in a groggy voice. She pulled the blanket over head to shield her eyes from the bright sunlight.
The boy turned, not having realized Brooke was up. He closed the drawer behind him, facing the girl completely as to give her his full attention.
"Even though you don't, I still have school today." He explained. She groaned in response.
"I thought we agreed you weren't gonna go!"
"You agreed on that." James corrected. "My dad would kill me."
At his statement, Brooke pulled her phone out from under the pillow to check the time. The screen read 7:12 AM. She let out a loud sigh, as she had wanted to sleep in.
"Well, who's gonna take you?" The girl questioned, taking the blanket off of her head.
"I was hoping you would." James let out with a smile on his face. "So, you should probably get ready."
Brooke glared at him before throwing the blanket to the side and getting up. She quickly threw on some sweatpants, keeping on the shirt she had slept in. She put her shoes on and made her way out the door.
"I'll be back within the next fifteen minutes." She shouted back.
"Okay." James called out in response.
Brooke made her way down the stairs, making sure to shut the front door quietly. She had left her car in the driveway of her house, meaning she would have to go home to pick it up.
Once she got to her house, she let out a sigh of relief at the fact that there were no cars in the driveway. Both her parents had already left for work and her little brother was already at school.
Brooke opened the front door with the house key she wore around her neck. She had seen it in one of her favorite movies, and decided to follow Beverley Marsh's example. She quickly grabbed her car keys, a few things from her bedroom, and headed back outside.
On her way back to James's house, the girl decided she would head back home today. She couldn't stay at her friend's forever.
She waited in the boy's driveway, mindlessly scrolling through her phone. She had asked Alyssa for her phone number a few days ago, but the brunette explained how she smashed her phone. James didn't have a phone to begin with, so Brooke didn't really have anyone to talk to.
The girl reached into the backseat, taking her backpack and placing it in her lap. She had grabbed it from her bedroom, as she knew James would take a few minutes to get ready. She had some homework that would be due when she got back to school and decided to start on it.
