"Match start!"

Shouto stood still, carefully watching the pink girl, Mina, as she readied herself for an attack. Analyzing his opponent was a habit he'd picked up from Izuku, and Shouto had noticed an improvement in his fights.

Mina sent a wave of acid towards him and skated on it skillfully. She was obviously going full out on an offensive attack since she didn't know anything about Shouto or his quirk.

Shouto dodged her first and then stomped his left foot and froze the acid, immobilizing Mina. She shivered.

"How?" She cried. She sent another wave of acid over the ice, trying to melt it, but Shouto just continued to freeze it.

He let the ice slowly creep up her body, immobilizing her fully, without expending much energy.

"Mina Ashido is out. Todoroki moves on." Aizawa said. "Next is Kendo and Izuku Todoroki."

Izuku glanced at Kendo. "Good luck." He said timidly.

Kendo laughed. "You too, little bro!"

They made their way to the center of the field carefully. Izuku put in his earbuds again, feeling a quiet relief wash over him. Class 1-A and 1-B's thoughts were really loud.

Oh yeah, his quirk.

Izuku had never gotten his quirk officially checked out, as he'd developed it quite late, and Enji had never thought about it, so he didn't know the full extents of his it.

Izuku just called it Telepathy, like one of his favorite rescue heroes, Mandalay, although his quirk was quite a bit more extensive than hers.

Izuku could easily invade a person's mind and look at their thoughts and memories, although he didn't like to unless necessary, because he thought it an intrusion of privacy. He could use his quirk to transmit message straight to other people's brains, and he could form a mental link with them so they could respond.

Izuku could also use some forms of telekinesis, such as making things float with his mind, and small mind over matter feats, like body temperature regulation and applying invisible pressure to things.

The biggest drawback to his quirk was the fact that Izuku automatically heard the thoughts of the people around him. The more people there were, the worse it could be. Also, some people's thoughts were naturally louder if they were excitable people, or if they were angry. Little kid's thoughts tended to be annoyingly loud too.

Izuku hadn't learned how to make a perfect mental shield yet, so he relied on the earbuds, which had a special piece of tech installed it them, to keep out the invading noise. Using telekinesis took up a lot of energy too, so if Izuku overextended his quirk, he had a tendency to want to sleep for a few hours.

Kendo smiled at him encouragingly as Izuku took up a simple fighting stance.

"Match Start!" Vlad King roared.

Kendo ran forward as her hand grew to about ten times its normal size. Izuku dodged the blow neatly, years of intense training kicking in as he ran around the other girl in a circle. He thrust his hand out, creating an invisible block with his mind, tripping Kendo as she ran towards him again.

Kendo caught herself before she hit the ground, looking confused. She quickly shook off the fall and tried to use her quirk.

Izuku quickly countered, putting telekinetic  pressure on her hand so it was impossible to grow. Then he darted forward, executing a clean low kick, knocking Kendo's feet out from under her and pinning her to the ground.

"Kendo is out! Izuku Todoroki moves on." Aizawa announced monotonously, although there was a flicker of surprise in his dark eyes.

Izuku helped Kendo up. "Sorry." He said quietly.

"Don't apologize!" Kendo said. "That was a great fight! How did you cancel out my quirk?"

Izuku walked off of the field, explaining his quirk to her.

Four hours later, it was getting dark, and the tournament was finally over. Bakugou had won, which didn't really surprise Izuku. His friend had always had a strong quirk and fighting style.

Izuku had lost somewhere around his seventh battle to Hitoshi Shinsou, and proceeded to ask him for details on everything to do with his quirk to the teen's surprise.

A lot of students had come up to Izuku asking about his quirk, which Izuku had explained eagerly, although he was slightly overwhelmed. He loved explaining quirks to people when they were truly interested. Izuku left out the parts about being able to link to people's brains and transmit messages and being able to see people's  memories though, although he wasn't quite sure why.

Eventually, Mr. Aizawa intruded on the little circle that the classes had created and told everyone they should probably head back to the dorms since it was starting to get late. A couple of people complained loudly, but most were amiable.

"Sato's making dinner tonight!" Mina yelled, and there was a lot of cheering from A-class as they went to change out of their hero costumes and head to the dorms.

Shouto had gone slightly ahead with a couple of the others after Izuku reassured him he'd be alright. It made Izuku slightly sad, but he was glad his mostly anti-social brother was finally warming up to people.

A bouncy brown-haired girl with a kind face approached Izuku, a tall blue-haired boy at her side.

"HI, I'm Ochako Ururaka!" She introduced herself. "It's super nice to finally get to talk to you! Our classmates can get really rowdy sometimes. "This is Iida!"

"Nice to make your acquaintance, Izuku. I'm Tenya Iida, the class president." He said, bowing. "Uraraka and I were given the duty to take you-"

"To take you to the dorms, show you around, get you some food, and show you your room!" Uraraka interrupted excitedly.

"Ururaka, it's not mannerly to in-"

"Interrupt people, I know, I know." Ururaka said. She paused and blushed. "Oops."

Iida sighed. "Either way, she's right. I hope we get along well, Izuku."

Izuku smiled. "Thanks, Iida. Me too. Thank you for helping me."

"No problem!" Ururaka exclaimed. "I think we'll all be really good friends!"

Izuku thought so too. He was feeling his anxiety slowly drain away. Maybe coming to U.A. was a good idea after all.

He decided to think on that later. For now, he wanted to get to know his new friends and eat some food.
