Chapter 6: Breathing Space

I woke up at six and quickly got ready though I woke up a little to early. I made the bed,showered and brushed my teeth and hair. Tugging at my uniform I threw the robes on top and decided to let Blue go out to hunt. Opening the window by my bed Blue flew out as a strong wind made my braid billow out behind me so I quickly closed the window and sighed in relief as no one has woken up yet. I tidied the room waiting for seven so that Blue could return but once Seven o'clock struck Blue was nowhere near the window. I narrowed my eyes and flew out of the room and down the stairs and into the common room ignoring the four people who sat in the corner of the room I walked to the on my window and tugged it open.
"BLUE!!"I screamed as loudly as I could. Nothing,no response. "Oh, come on!" I cried. Frustration echoed hollowly in my voice.
"Whats up,Dawn?" A voice asks behind me I looked back and narrowed my eyes. A boy with a softer shade of black than Tom had spoken to me,he stood by Tom,Molfoy and another.
"My familiar is late. And whom may you be,since you obviously know who I am."I say.
"Ouch,don't you pay attention? I sat in the same room on the train with you." He says feigning hurt. I rolled my eyes.
"Sorry,I ignored everybody else." I say and turned back to the window taking out my wand as a disguise for what I'm about to do. I flicked my wand slightly  and screamed again this time no one but Blue could hear me.
"BLUE IF YOU DO NOT RETUNR RIGHT THIS INSTANT I WON'T ALLOW YOU OUT EVER AGAIN!"I called.
" My names Hugo Noxses." He said. I turned to look at him scowling. But my eyes softened and I sighed. This dang Dragon!! I stomped away from the window and walked over to Hugo holding my hand out. He took it and shook it.
"Well than,nice to meet you, Hugo,though you picked quite the crappy time to introduce yourself." I say and suddenly my ears perked up as I heard flapping I turned around just as Blue flew in and tackled me to the floor.
"Ooof!" I held him up an arm's length away from me. "Here you are. " I say sighing.  I stood up and dusted myself off.
"A Dragon!?" The other three called out.
" Yes a Dragon,mind you his name is Blue. As long as you don't piss him off than he won't bite your fingers off." Or turn you to ice.I thought to myself.
"I'm Avery Nott. Where did you find it?" He asks.
"I hatched it." I answered without thinking. They blinked.
"You hatched it?!?" Everyone except Tom yelled.
"Shoosh!Everyones still asleep. And yes I did. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go exploring." I say bowing slightly I walked past them feeling relieved. I flicked Blue's snout as punishment. I briefly glanced at the board and grinned. Lactus. Nice. I opened the door and walked out. Hoping to make a map of the castle though I know it keeps changing its forms. I explored every corridor and marked them in my head. Along with the different names and tags hanging above the doors of each room. I reached the library and grinned from ear to ear as a schedule formed in my head I continued to walk until I bumped into someone he catchedand steadied me.
"Are you alright miss Dawn?" Professor Dumbeldoor asks me, next to him stood the headmaster.
"Ah,yes,Professor Dumbeldoor, hello Headmaster Dippet. " I greeted them and bowed.
"How good mannered." Said the Headmaster smiling at me." Good morning to you too,Miss Dawn." The headmaster continued.
" Why are you here,Miss Dawn?" Professor Dumbeldoor asks.
"Uh? Oh,I was exploring trying to map out the castle so that I wouldn't get lost easily,sirs." I say lifting my head.
"The staircases and corridors keep changing so you'll find that rather difficult. " The headmaster explained.
" Oh,I might as well have tried but thank you, Headmaster Dippet, Professor Dumbeldoor." I say just as Blue chirped and peeked his head out of my school bag.
"A Dragon?!"Both of them exclaimed.
"Yes he is,his name is Blue. And I swear he won't harm anyone as long as they do not harm him or me." I say rubbing his head over my shoulder. Professor Dumbeldoor regained his calm composure first and nodded his head.
"Well than as long as he doesn't cause any problems than you may have him here as your familiar. Here." Professor Dumbeldoor wrote something with his wand as a paper appeared along with a pendant that says I'm allowed to have this Dragon as long as he does not do anything wrong he may of course defend me or himself. Headmaster Dippet did the same. I bowed.
"Thank you,Professor Dumbeldoor, Headmaster Dippet. "I say. Blue crawled out and onto my shoulder knowing he's allowed to now.
"Why don't we escort you to the Great Hall than." Professor Dumbeldoor said. I nodded and thank the teachers. I walked a little behind them not wanting to oppose on their conversations. I pinned both pendants to my robe with a smile. I never imagined that I would get permission like this. I scratched Blue's back trying not to grin.
'That was unexpected. Who would have thought you'd not just get permission but from both the Headmaster and vice headmaster too.' Blue thought to me.
'At least we got permission now, so you can openly sit on my shoulder or head now.' I said.
'Agreed.' He says. We arrived in front of the great hall as the door swung open with an invisible force. I sat down at the Slyhteren table and patiently waited for the others to arrive. A few moments later students began to flood the hall,Molfoy,Avery,Hugo,Tom, Emelia,Olivia,Hanna,Meleny and Mai sat around me. The boy's on the opposite side while the girls beside me. Emelia,Olivia, Hanna, Meleny and Mai all looked at Blue in surprise while everybody else gave me glares which I happily ignored.
"Asher."Blue whispered out loud. Everyone looked at him in pure shock. I looked at him and followed his line of sight. I rolled my eyes.
" I don't believe she's here,bud." I say rolling my eyes again. He sighed and snuggled closer to my neck while the rest of his body laid in my hoody.
"He can speak?!"Molfoy nearly screamed I glared at him but smiled.
"Yes he can. Though he doesn't like it." I say rubbing his chin. Blue hummed seemingly happy. The headmaster rised from his seat as all the tables were full.
"Do not mind the Dragon! It has permission from both I and the vice headmaster Dumbeldoor. So I advice you leave its owner and it alone since it is allowed to attack if it or her are threatened. " The headmaster than continued with a short speech and sat back down flicking his wrist just as the food appeared in front of us. Blue eyed the bacon. I flicked his nose making everyone shocked again.
"BLUE. I warn you. I gave you an hour today and five yesterday you lazy Dragon. If you steal or even eye our food I will take your time away. And I understand  that you like breathing space? I'd take that away too." I warned pointing my fork to him. He pouted and turned into my pendant.
