~April's POV~
I was walking through the school hallways when Julie came up to me.
"Hey April!" Now that I know how she actually is, her smile looked fake.
"Oh, hey Julie." I didn't pay her much attention.
"So, what are you doing after school? I'd love to have you o-"
"Listen, Julie. I don't feel like playing your game." I told her, cutting her off in the middle of what she was saying.
She was silent, then she tilted her head. "Hm?"
"I'm not letting you draw me in just to back stab me later."
"What are you t-"
"Please, I know that you order all the jerks and assholes in this school to go around and bully others, and I don't want to be a part of that."
"...Who told you that?" She still wore her smile.
"That's not for you to worry about. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get to class." I turned and walked away from her.
~(Y/n)'s POV~
I yawned as I walked through the halls of what feels like Hell. It was the end of the day, and I was on my way to the exit, praying that I can get out before anyone notices me and starts making fun of me.
...Yeah, like that would happen.
Instead, I felt someone pull on the back of my shirt, causing me to fall on the ground. Then I felt three people all pass by me, kicking and stepping on me in the process. One of them managed to kick me in the head.
"Watch where you're going, freak." It was James and Hunter and another guy. I think his name was Ben. Or was is Brandon? Brian? Eh, it doesn't matter. They just laughed and walked away, leaving me on the ground.
"Ow, ow, ow..." I slowly sat up, rubbing my head. "Fucking assholes..." I muttered. I looked up, and saw two cat ears poking out from behind a row of lockers. "It's okay Evelyn, you can come out now."
She slowly pokes her head out from behind the lockers. "A...Are you okay...?"
I did my best to put on a smile, even if it was a fake one. "I'm fine." I wasn't, but I don't want her to worry or anything.
"...Okay." She slowly walked out from behind the lockers, her hands folded together in front of her. "U-Um...I'm sorry...that I didn't help you..."
I stood up, and walked toward her. I stopped in front of her, reaching my hand out towards her. She flinched when I did this, looking down and closing her eyes, as if she was expecting to be hit. It was kind of upsetting seeing her have that reaction when someone is about to touch her. I slowly rested my hand on her head, moving it from side to side in between her cat ears. She opened her eyes and looked up at me.
"You don't have to worry about me." I gave her another smile, hoping it'll reassure her. I don't want her to think she has to step in when things like this happen.
I took my hand off of her head, and started walking to the exit again. I stopped and turned around. "You coming?"
She took a moment before she ran up to me. She reaches me and we start walking together. It was...nice.
~Time Skip~
I was walking down my street, and heard my mom call out to me.
"(Y/n)! Come help!"
I look to my left, and see a big moving van. My mom was helping my neighbor and a unfamiliar girl bring things from the truck into my neighbors house. I saw the new girl struggling to move a huge bean bag chair. I sighed and walked over and dropped my bag next to the truck.
