I strained my eyes open, falling in and out of consciousness as a hard pain throbbed against the back of my head. 'I stayed up way too late last night' I thought to myself as I reached for my phone to glance at the screen; it was filled with texts from Hayden, my boyfriend. I forgot. I raced downstairs, pulling a sweater over my head and discarding my sweatpants onto my floor, replacing them with a pair of jeans. I grabbed my backpack from my closet, thankfully it was already packed from several days before. How could I have forgotten the day that we had planned so meticulously for the past month?
I haphazardly threw my hair into a bun on my head as a walked past my dad- if you could even use that term to describe him- yelling profanities at the TV. At least I could sleep easy knowing he won't miss me, or even care enough to notice that I was gone. I swung open my door, and ran out to Parker's car, well it's not really hers but that doesn't matter right now. I took a deep breath of the hot, and slightly musty air, thinking to myself
ok, here goes nothing, and I swung open the car door.
