Parker turned on the radio and I found I myself saying to songs I didn't know. My parents never let me listen to popular music because they said all those songs were about stuff I was too young for. Obviously I have heard of sex and drugs before, I had thought to myself.

Rowan and Hayden were singing along to the music too. I desperately want to change places with him, to be that close with Rowan again. I remembered each year when were were younger we would enter our elementary school's talent show, even though we both have the worst tone deaf voices on the planet. We would sing old cheesy songs and the judges would fake cheer us on. We would practice for weeks so we wouldn't have to hold lyric papers. We were close for all of elementary school and middle school, so what changed? Before we went to high school we promised each other we would still be friends during it- wait, no there was no verbal promise because it was never a question. So on that first day of high school we eat lunch together, but didn't speak about our days, we just ate. I don't remember when Rowan stopped coming, but I do remember the day when she invited me to her her popular table. I won't go into the details, but it was awkward. The next day I met Parker.
