Somehow in the midst of this weird situation I found myself enjoying myself. The inside of the bar smelled like alcohol and was definitely not clean enough, but I had the satisfying feeling I was making memories I would cherish for the rest of my life.

I looked over at Parker, Rowan, and Hayden hoping to see that they were also experiencing out of place enthusiasm, but alas I found varying degrees of disgust spewed across their faces. I looked around trying to mirror their disgust, trying to look at the grimy floors and passed out people as bad things that are ruining everything. As scratches on a perfect cd, as bruises on a yellow banana. But I couldn't, the imperfections of the place around me meant more adventure for me, more stories for me, more futures for me.

"Why are you grinning?" said Parker obviously confused with my light hearted smile. She raised her eyebrows and looked around as if trying to wake me up from a dream where I could grin about beautiful landscapes.

"Do you want to get a drink" asked Hayden excitedly, I looked at him really wondering how Rowan liked this guy, but I wasn't going to seem like a party pooper.

"Yeah sure," I said, trying to sound careless, but obviously it wasn't convincing because Parker shot me a confused look.

"Yeah, I want to have a drink," I said more enthusiastically.

I looked over at Rowan wondering if my new fun careless vibes were making her have a better time, but Rowan looked freaked out. She was sweating and fidgeting.

"Cool," Hayden said and started walking towards the bartender who looked like he had a little too much to smoke before his shift. I gritted my teeth in annoyance and signaled to Parker and Rowan to follow Hayden to the corner of the bar.
