-Higgs' POV- I sniff, letting out a heavy sigh. My head is pounding from crying. "Calm down, Higgs." I whisper to myself. "Just calm down. It was only a nightmare. Just...a nightmare."
I lay back down, looking up at the ceiling.
Nava whimpers in her sleep. Looks like I'm not the only one who has had nightmares.
I groan, getting up and wiping my eyes.
"Hush, babygirl." I take her pod off again and rock her, walking around the room. She whimpers, but eases back into sleep.
"That's it," I croon. "I promised to protect you," I hold her close. "And that is what I will do."
Nava wakes up, looking at me curiously.
"Morning, Nava. I didn't mean to wake you. I just wanted to make sure you were safe."Nava whines. "What? Are you scared?"
I walk back to bed with her in my arms.
"It's okay, baby. Let me calm you down."
I lay down with Nava beside me in bed.
"Just breath with me." I plug the white cord back into her pod, steadying my breathing and heartbeat. She places her hands on the glass again, smiling.
I smile as well, feeling the same warmth flow again.
I then frown, holding up one of the crystals.
The golden color is similar to the mask I saw in my nightmare."What do these crystals mean?" I whisper. Nava looks at it again. "You look just as confused as me. At least you're calm. I'm happy about that, babygirl."
Nava babbles happily.
I smile. "We can head out later. I just want to relax for now."But what did that warning mean? Protect Nava from what? Getting shot? Bleeding out?
What was with the golden mask?
It was oddly...pretty. Why was the other me laughing? Does he know something that I don't?

I toss back a handful of mixed nuts in my mouth, chewing as I walk. Nava is oddly quiet on my chest. I suppose me being connected to her and remaining calm is enough to ease her.At least she is safe. She's my daughter, after all. As her father, I need to protect her. It's strange to think that we have gotten so attached to each other. Rain sprinkles down as I walk. The hood over my head is almost clinging to my skin.
I need to find some type of mask to cover my face soon. This timefall is not something people should take lightly. I luckily found a backpack in the storage unit and can carry food with me now. The grenades still attached to my belt clank together in a rhythm.
"Everything will be fine," I mutter, hearing one of those BTs make a noise. I hold my breath, calmly walking over to a small cave and climbing in.
Nava whimpers on my chest.
"Shh. Shh." I pat her pod gently, kneeling down and waiting for the rain to pass."It's okay. Daddy's here. I'll protect you, baby. I'm not breaking my promise anytime soon."
