Liv curled up into a ball attempting to shield her body from the cold air that circulated the tiny room she slept in. Toni and Parker didn't pay the gas bill again. It was nothing new, honestly if it wasn't the heat it was the water or the lights. All three utilities were never on at the same time. It was a privilege to even get one around here. Nothing was ever a priority to her foster parents. It didn't matter to them that a thirteen-year-old was living in their house. Nope. Toni and Parker Jones didn't give a fuck. As long as they had a fix of their favorite drug crack cocaine Liv could be somewhere dead for all they cared. The money the government provided them to take care of Liv fed their addiction. Living in this condition wasn't the worst part. She could deal with that. What she couldn't handle was the sexual harassment and abuse she had to go through on the daily. Mentally thirteen-year-old Liv knew it wasn't right nor normal to be experiencing this kind of behavior from a grown man. Let alone her foster dad. Liv shut her eyes tightly and silently cried out to God. Which was new to her, she didn't necessarily know if she believed in him or not. Her life was so fucked up, how could there even be a God and he allowed harm to come her way? What kind of God did this? What kind of God allowed someone to murder her parents and leave her abandoned? Is this the same God everyone worshipped? Her mind couldn't wrap around that. Yet here she was, praying to a God she wasn't even sure existed.God... if your there, if you happen to be listening. I'm not sure how to do this or if I'm even doing this right. But I need your help! I'm not safe here, and I don't know what to do. He... he touches me and does bad things I know he's not supposed to and I'm to scared to tell him to stop. Help me God. Please take me from this place. Amen
When she opened her eyes, she felt relieved. For a short moment she actually felt like everything was going to be alright. Then she heard the clumsy footsteps to her door.
Her heart raced rapidly as she prepared for the worst. Within minutes Toni was stumbling himself into the dark room. His eyes dilated indicating that he was high, as always.
"Please just leave me alone" Liv managed to say. Toni laughed maliciously feeding off her pleas. He walked slowly towards the mattress that sat on the floor. It was the only piece of furniture inside the room. Unbuckling his pants with each step he took.
"C'mon now Olivia imma make you feel good like I always do. Just admit it you like it... you like how I treat you like a woman"!! He said with a smirk.
The way her name rolled off his tongue disgusted her and made her feel sick to her stomach. He was sick! Sick to even think doing this to a child was okay.
"Leave me alone Toni!!!!! You don't have to do this I promise I won't ever tell anybody just leave me alone" Liv begged as tears swelled in her eyes. She was only a kid. How did life get so complicated? So fucked up? I rather be dead. I rather be anywhere but here she thought knowing she had no chance persuading him otherwise.
"Shut the fuck up.. I know you won't tell anybody because even if you did nobody would believe yo lil pathetic ass". Toni responded arrogantly. Gripping her up roughly and pulling her towards the edge of the mattress.
He's right. Nobody is going to believe me. Nobody is going to help me. At that point Liv just gave up she had no fight in her left. She counted to seven hundred in her head and he was finished. Starring straight up into the ceiling as she heard him fondling around with his belt buckle and pants.
"Get up, get ya self together before Parker bring her ass up in here" he said sniffling.
Liv remained unresponsive as she starred up into the celling. It didn't matter to her if Parker came in. It didn't matter what she would do to her if she found out. Nothing mattered. "I said get the fuck up" Toni yelled irritated at Liv's disobedience. "It's time for me to get another fix, and this bitch bet not had smoked it all up"!! Something inside her sparked at that moment. Something that gave her the courage to stand up to him. He was just a powerless crack head just like Parker, just like majority of the people on the block. But she had something they did not. The power to think logically without having a monkey on her back making the decisions for her. Liv got up and reapplied the cheap clothes she wore back to her body as Toni wiped the snot attempting to drip down from his nose away. He took one last long look at Liv and smiled maliciously before turning around and walking out the room. See Toni thought he had full control over little Olivia but little did he know the tables were about to turn or so Liv thought.
