'And then he went: what do you know about music, you're just his manager! And I was pissed, you know? I know a lot about music! Honestly, way more than you know about your own mother, I said. So he went completely nuts and in the end I had to threaten him a bit or else...'
As Mark kept on talking about how much he hated one of the crew guys, Tyler just admired the lazy evening with a redbull in hand that he was experiencing. He eventually zoned out completely, his eyes closing slowly as he sipped on his drink. He was finally sitting down on a comfortable couch instead of a stupid, stiff sofa they had to put up with in the tour bus. He only had one more show to do before the first leg of bandito tour was over. He had so much fun, truthfully, but he was growing homesick with every week. Even Ashley, his good friend and also his drummer could see that.
'What do you think, Ty? Did I do the right thing?' Mark finally asked, making Tyler wince.
'Dude, I don't know...' he rasped out, rubbing his face and yawning.
'You didn't even listen, did you?' Mark raised his eyebrow.
'Not for a moment' Tyler grinned at him lazily, making the other groan in response.
'Try to listen this time-'
'I'm not interested in your drama with the crew guy, I'm sorry, but it's incredibly tiring and I am exhausted' he let his head fall back a bit as he spoke.
'I wasn't gonna- Just listen' Mark rolled his eyes but let go off the 'drama with the crew guy' topic. 'So lately my mentions have been raped by thousands of raging teenagers-'
'Welcome to everyday life of a celebrity, Mark, what can I get you?' Tyler snickered, opening one of his eyes to look at the other's face. As soon as he spotted his annoyed expression he sighed and closed his eye shut again, mumbling a quick apology.
'They're mostly asking me to check out some people's art and stuff... But lately I can see only one person that your fans mention a lot. Apparently, the guy is your age, is a youtuber and plays drums. He recorded a few covers of your songs. Quite a ton of them, to be fair. The guy also has been to, like, hundreds of your shows and is a big fan overall. People want you to check out his videos. What do you say? Two or three covers and a short opinion on your twitter won't hurt, right?' Mark hummed, opening his laptop already.
Tyler had to admit, the more Mark told him, the more he wanted to see what the whole shitstorm was about. He finally grew interested enough to sit straight and open both of his eyes, looking at the screen. 'Sure', he spoke after a second, 'Let's check him out'.
Mark couldn't help but laugh quietly. 'Remember to check out his abilities and not the kid himself, please. I know you're gay but-'
'If I were you I would stop right there' Tyler warned, not even looking at his snorting friend. Somehow Mark managed to keep the dorky teenager attitude over the years.
'Which song do you want to see first?' Mark asked after a moment.
'Get something hard. Jumpsuit or Heavydirtysoul. Or Lane Boy. All of them are quite heavy on drums and require a lot of... Well, practice. A bit of the feeling overall' Tyler nodded.
The manager hummed in agreement. He clicked on the Jumpsuit video and sat back, letting Tyler get a better view at the screen. A few seconds in the video, Tyler was already sitting with his jaw dropped. Not only because of how good the guy was - and trust me, he was EXTREMELY good. Tyler had never seen anyone with such passion before. The other reason for his a little bit ridiculous reaction was the guy's abs and arms but he surely wouldn't mention that. Anyway, Tyler found the drummer quite good-looking.
As soon as the video ended, Tyler cleared his throat, finally managing to blink.
'So what do you think, Joseph? Any comments so far?'
'Not really' the singer shook his head and took a deep breath before clicking out of the video. 'Let's see Pet Cheetah. I like the drumline in this one' he said after a moment, clicking the right title.
Every single video the two watched made Tyler react the same way as before. He was astonished, shocked, dumbfounded but also pretty excited. He wondered what else the man was producing on his channel. With every single cover they watched, he felt more and more curious.
'Well, aren't you lucky?' Mark laughed after a moment.
Tyler frowned, looking over at his friend, not understanding quite what he could mean. 'Pardon?'
'This guy is literally one text away. He's coming to your show tomorrow, too, did you know? You could reach out to him, maybe even meet up at the concert... That's it if you want to' he snickered, closing his laptop and getting up, stretching his back and arms. 'I'm going to bed. You know where stuff is, suit yourself. Let me know what you decided in the morning'.
'Sure', Tyler sighed. 'Thanks man', he added after a moment.
'No problem. Being a wingman is actually pretty fun' he laughed on his way out of the living room, leaving Tyler with a goofy smile on his face and a roll of his eyes.
