"Percy..." I yelled to him after dinner, "lesson time." I sighed, sense we didn't really have a lesson earlier and I still wanted to chat with him in private, as furious as I was.

"yeah.. um-" he turned back toward the girl he had been chatting with when I interrupted, Clarisse, "got to go.. see you tomorrow?" he winked at her. I never knew he could be so flirty—especially with winking at her, making her weak to her knees.

I swear I saw her blush a little, "yeah, see ya Percy..." she looked at me with an evil glare like I broke up a wedding proposal, "Chase." she coldly stated before turning away towards the Ares cabin.

"Had to get me while I was talking to Carisse?" he chuckled as we started our walk to the porch of the Big House. We decided to continue having lessons there after dinner, or during the day at my cabin porch if I had a different student during the night or didn't want to go to bed late, but sense most nights were warm and still bright we continued to have lessons there. Some nights we'd skip the campfire and go there or sneak off to the sands of the beach, which Percy would usually be the one forcing me to go there. Laying in the sand, barely even doing our lesson, we'd just talk about what we missed of home life—he'd mostly bring up his mom as I would only really bring up my dad and occasionally my half-brothers.

I remembered one cold night on the beach...

I looked over to him, grateful to be with him at this moment, connecting like true friends would. I thought of maybe us being friends till we die, the thought put an automatic smile on my face, which he returned, looking into each other's eyes, but we couldn't... I can't get close to anyone anymore, they end up leaving... or worse. I thought of Thaila, which made my smile drop and my eyes look down.

He noticed this and set his hand upon mine, comforting me. I first looked at our connected hands then back into his eyes sadly. His ocean-forest eyes reading into my mind. He opened his arms out to pull me into a hug, which I would've declined if it wasn't Percy. I laid on his chest as he set his chin in the crook of my neck, which was comforting. I wish I could be off my guard like this all the time, but I couldn't... and my mother would scorn me now. Athena! I popped up out of his grasp, surprised, he let go quickly, "i-im sorry Percy..." I stuttered.

"What's wrong?" he asked inviting me back in, I fought the urge to fall back into the trap of his warmth.

"No-noth—" I tried to play off but he interrupted me.

"—no, Annabeth, I know you. What's wrong?" he tried to invite me in again.

As much as I fought, I gave in, his puppy dog eyes made me. My mother would hate me to be in the arms of her enemy's son. "This... my mom."

"Athena?" he asked, wrapping his arms around my small waist and cuddling into me again, which I enjoyed and sunk into his warmth.

"Yeah... she'll hate me, she'll hate you... she probably already does."

"What? Why?" he asked startled.

"Do you not know, Percy?" I sat up a tad so I could look into his face, we were very close now, our noses almost touching.

"Know what?" he asked holding me tighter.

"Our parents... they're not exacting, let's say, simpatico, at the moment..."

"oh..." he sighed quietly, trailing off in thought as I continued,

"She probably doesn't approve of this..."

"This?" he questioned, like we were dating or something.

"Our friendship... me helping you all the time... I bet your dad doesn't care that much, but my mom? No one should ever cross her." I chuckled lightly.
